I have to admit to liking “All That She Wants” in a guilty pleasure sort of way.

ETA: okay I don’t love it enough to add it to my iPod but until youtube I never thought I’d hear it again. The lyrics are…interesting, though.

I think people have different, narrower expectations about a jingle or signature theme than they do for an actual song. It’s like comparing a short story to a handwritten signature. Almost any theme can be annoying if heard too many times.

Let me put it this way, how would you convince someone that one jingle is better or worse than another? Is the NPR theme really worse than that of say NBC Nightly News (duh-duh-duh-duh, duh-duh-duh DUH …). I don’t like or dislike either theme, by the way, I’m just ambivalent.
