A sign of the times: the old guys won. The oldest quarterback; the oldest coach.

As a matter of trivia, tickets for the first superbowl could be had for as little as $6.00

I didn’t watch the commercials. As with a great many commercials anymore, a good deal of the time I’m not sure what is being advertised.

I missed the whole thing, and haven’t gotten excited enough to watch the highlights yet. Or the commercials.

It’s not a game for the highlights reel, though it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

It was awesome game old fashioned slobber knocker I loved it two thumbs up!

After the Rams missed field goal I fell asleep while the clock wound down…

Johnny U grew up in Pittsburgh as well (but he didn’t start in Superbowl III, he was benched due to an arm injury—Earl Morall played most of the game. Near the end of the game Don Schula finally put Unitas in and he managed to get one touchdown)
My grandfather used to tell us how he would go watch Unitas play when Unitas played semi-pro on a field underneath the Bloomfield Bridge. And he’d go watch the Steelers in the old days when they played in Sundays and it was illegal to play pro sports on Sunday. I think it was illegal to sell tickets, so they’d have to “wink-wink” to hand the money over.

And he said Rooney started the franchise with money he’d won betting on horses.

No one wanted to see the Patriots and the Rams.
They wanted to see the Chiefs and the Saints.

Adam Levine removing his shirt was awful too. What was the purpose of that? It didn’t make halftime any better. 😝

I’m happy, Brady and the Pats prevail over Gurley and Jay Z.

I didn’t watch all season until the champeenships two weeks ago – watched all those hours – even on a Sunday. SB was just a game like it always is. i enjoyed these three games – watching these competitive pros doing their thing.

I’m really good on the mute button for the commercials (who cares?).

I used half time to catch up on a couple tasks – just kept my eye on the wall clock to get back in time for the second half kickoff.

The shameful thing was the procession in with the trophy, with all those guys kissing it – give me a break.

I felt bad for the Rams’ punter, who missed that field goal.

I agree. And being covered with tatoos
was not a sight I was thrilled about seeing
either.

I dislike both teams immensely. I’m from St. Louis so the Rams (well, really just their owner) are evil. And because I was a big Rams fan at one time, I’ve never forgiven the Patriots for beating us in 2001 (and yes, I think they cheat!). This was the worst possible teams playing in my mind. So considering that, the game was the best I could hope for. Super boring so most people will forget about it. The Rams lost and looked terrible. Brady didn’t do anything spectacular. If only Stan Kroenke had lost his toupee or vomited on national tv, it would’ve been a great game!

Although I liked that part of the commercial where Brady took all his rings off.
I have no knowledge or interest in football but was at a Super Bowl party and saw that commercial. I only recognized a few faces in the ad but found it brilliantly funny…the part where Brady took his rings off and handed them to somebody made me roar – did he hand them to someone from a team that lost to the Patriots in a prior Super Bowl?

It is called American football.
Football refers to the other game.

Might as well have been a stripping show. I swear, he was ready to throw off his trousers.

To add to what you said, the TV networks thinking that the Boston and LA audience would drive ratings wanted these two teams in the Super Bowl. But, the fans through their great wisdom about fairness gave the TV folks their worst ratings for a Super Bowl in 10 years. Justice!

During my several years hiatus from watching (American) football, I started paying attention to world football, even to the point that I started calling soccer football. [I didn’t have a favorite team, although I was fond of Atletico Madrid because their working class reputation was reminiscent of the Steelers]

Here’s some trivia–the English originally used the word soccer to refer to world football, which is how we in the U.S. picked up the name. The English then switched to calling it football but we retained the traditional word.
