Reading through this - I am a bit disturbed by some of the responses:blush:
I think we would all agree that God is the only one who would know the absolute truth in this matter.
But for the sake of this discussion, let’s take the 2 scenarios:
- Let’s say that God decides that a clone does not get a soul. That the clone is an evil spirit walking amongst us. Some people, however, mistakingly believe that the clone is of God and deserves our love, so people extend their love, and in return, the evil spirit could do us harm.
- Let’s say that God decides that a clone is indeed a being that he loves, and grants the clone a soul. Some people, however, mistakingly believe that the clone is an evil spirit, and persecute, hate and try to destroy the soul that God loves (the clone) - all this done in the name of God. In this scenario, the evil is not only walking amongst us. It is in us.
Personally, I prefer to err on the side of caution and believe that a clone would, indeed, have a soul and would be loved by our Heavenly Father, just as the rest of us are.
We can pray that human cloning never becomes a reality, but if it does, we need to remember that God is still the Creator. It’s the devil who tells us that man is capable of “creating” a human by cloning.
