Would a human clone have a soul?

This is starting to sound like some of those B-horror films from the 1950’s & 1960’s …

" … having no mother & father but created in a lab test tube, she had no soul and was driven by pure evil … "
Yes. But those “B-horror flicks” don’t even scratch the surface when it comes to conjuring up the ENORMITY of the evil of cloning.

IMO, clones will be bodies that contain spirits from tha abyss walking among us.

God help us.

If a body can be cloned can the soul be cloned as well? Isn’t this playing God? IMO, if a clone of a human ever happens the cloned body will be animated by evil spirit(s) same as possession …only to a GREATER degree.

Cloning is not of God.

Cloning is a way the devil can be “incarnated.”

Think about it.
Ok. rape is not of God…do children conceived though rape not have souls?

IVF is not of God… do children conceived through IVF not have souls?

Fornication is not of God…do children conceived through fornication not have souls.

God has ultimate power of bringing good out of evil.

Finally, does God punish the child for the sins of the parent?

Reading through this - I am a bit disturbed by some of the responses:blush:

I think we would all agree that God is the only one who would know the absolute truth in this matter.

But for the sake of this discussion, let’s take the 2 scenarios:
  1. Let’s say that God decides that a clone does not get a soul. That the clone is an evil spirit walking amongst us. Some people, however, mistakingly believe that the clone is of God and deserves our love, so people extend their love, and in return, the evil spirit could do us harm.
  2. Let’s say that God decides that a clone is indeed a being that he loves, and grants the clone a soul. Some people, however, mistakingly believe that the clone is an evil spirit, and persecute, hate and try to destroy the soul that God loves (the clone) - all this done in the name of God. In this scenario, the evil is not only walking amongst us. It is in us.
Personally, I prefer to err on the side of caution and believe that a clone would, indeed, have a soul and would be loved by our Heavenly Father, just as the rest of us are.

We can pray that human cloning never becomes a reality, but if it does, we need to remember that God is still the Creator. It’s the devil who tells us that man is capable of “creating” a human by cloning.

With all due respect: absolutely NONE of the things you list here have anything to do with cloning.

This (cloning) is in an entirely different realm. Open your eyes.

Evil exists in the world of “touchy-feely.” It is how evil makes itself acceptable by clouding its its presence.

If you are going to be objective you have to look at the other possibilities. The idea of clones living amongst us is the most unnatural and unholy of anything mankind has ever embarked upon.

Oddly, we kill the unborn and the advocates of this see it as just and compassionate. So, now, we look to bring in clones and some see it as from God. NEITHER. Both are from Hell. Wake up and see what’s happening.

Although I am posting an excerpt…the entire article is very informative. Please read.

Human cloning, in the final analysis, is simply a technique for making an identical twin of someone, and while all of us have met various sets of identical twins over the years, none of us has ever met a pair where one of the twins lacked a soul. By similar reasoning, it is clear that the idea of a “soulless clone” is little more than an urban legend. Yet the mere discussion of a “soulless clone” serves to remind us how strikingly immoral human cloning really is, even as the mass media and various lawmakers vigorously promote a form of cloning known as therapeutic cloning.

I think that you missed the point. You said that a clone wouldn’t have a soul because it’s origins were not of God and Mary pointed out that those other actions were also not of God but the person still had a soul. Using your logic flow, they should not have souls either.

It is quite obvious that this ‘thing’ will be man-made not God-made…so it is quite impossible for such a creature to have an immortal soul. Where is the Divine (name removed by moderator)ut?

At the moment animal-human embryos are approved in UK. Do you think such a creaure if it were allowed to develop would have a soul? No way!
Likewise with clones - cute man-made ‘things’ but certainly not human & certainly no soul.

Very very scary- a race of slave zombies becomes more & more a possibility.

  1. What do you base this on? You have me interested.
  2. What “abyss”? Are we talking hell? Purgatory? Some unnamed area in-between our world and the next?

These are my own spiritual insights and are NOT inferior to your own. Yours (insights) are yours; you are free to embrace them. Likewise for myself.

The Church is OPPOSED to cloning so how do we see it (cloning) as something that the Church is ignorant about?

IMO, to be open to human cloning is the same as following a doctrine of demons. IMO. But that’s just me. You can believe what you want.

Purgatory is NOT a place of demons, suffering…yes, but there are no demons taunting those in Purgatory. It is a place of restitution and hope that, in course, that soul will eventually see God. Purgatory is NEVER equated as being a place of the damned.

In the Last Days all power of Hell will be released on mankind. Many evils will will be thrusted on mankind and evil men will be accessory to them.

Just trying to connect some of the dots of the Apocalypse. If we were to take St. John’s descriptions in the most literal way then, by seeing his visions such as, '(paraphraising) …locusts that sound like a great amount of chariots…a locust that has the face of a man…the tail of the locust will emit lightning…"

Doesn’t this sound like helicopters? Locusts/grasshoppers, in an abstract way they are shaped like helicopters. They are noisy, a man sits at the very head of a glass cockpit; its weapons are in the back of the vessel…Etc., etc.

Then there is the “…image of the beast…” Who knows? Could it be a clone?

Ever wonder where all the imagination for Greek mythology comes from? It was likely all of the creatures such as horses with human heads, Simitars, etc., actually had some truth to them. Of course the world became so deranged with all of these demon creatures running/flying around along with the lack of morality in the remaining human race, that alas the world had to be destroyed in a world wide flood. We are probably headed in that direction once again once souless clones and hybrids inhabited by demons become commonplace.

I never said that there were demons in purgatory … just trying to understand what this “abyss” is that you keep talking about.

Abyss is Hell. It’s surprising you weren’t aware of that. “Abyss” is a synonym for Hell. The “Pit” is another; “Lake of Fire,” is another.

No, I never heard that before. Learn something new every day. That’s why I am here … to share what I know and learn what I don’t.

I also never heard of people being born without a soul but possessed by a demon and having no soul of their own.

Even though IVF begins outside of the body and is not “of God”, the babies produced still are blessed by a soul. Why would a clone be any different. Life would begin outside of the body just as with IVF, so why do you think that the baby would not have a soul but be possessed by a spirit from the Abyss?

In a natural conception God breathes a soul into the newly conceived. Conception is achieved through the natural law.

Where does God’s role fit in conception when it is done in vitro?

But cloning is an entirely different approach. There is but only ONE DNA that is continued…the DNA of the host.

The devil is a spirit and cannot be part of a conception but if God is absent from the moment a soul is brougtht forth then, it would follow, that is Satan’s opportunity to animate the yet-to-be-born.

Some souls come into the world under less-than-holy circumstances. Unwed mothers who deliberately seek to become pregnant and do so are not in God’s light or in His plan for the family.

Clones are NOT conceived; they are engineered. A clone is the exact DNA of the one person. For a soul to be formed/breathed there has to be a man and a woman both sharing their DNA’s with the newly conceived.

Not so with a clone.

Further, the Church is squarely opposed to cloning even if it has not yet taken place in humans. It is against natural law.

Exactly my point. Where is God present in vitro? And if you say that it ie because of two sets of DNA, then what about identical twins where there is only one set of DNA?

Let’s make one and find out. 😛

I kid…I kid.
But how exactly would you find out? Do you have a soul detector? If so then perhaps you could test some conjoined twins and answer the question of how many souls they have.

No…a clone would have DNA from 2 sources…the parents of the host.

A clone is simply an identical twin of the host, conceived artificially in a laboratory. Genetically, it isn’t missing any DNA. It would have all the necessary chromosomes.

Please note, I am in no way defending cloning, just explaining what it is.

That is an interesting question. But, I think that was quoted here already, that he/she would have to have a soul. He/she would have to have a brain, a heart and a soul to survive. Right?
