St. Paul said “Do not love the world.” And Celebs, world leaders, porn stars, politicians, and such, all belong to the world.
But Jesus said, “Love one another, as I have loved you”!

I’m not sure of your point.

Only those in the church. The bible says we should turn away from such bad company.

Jesus did not say to only love those in the Church.
He said there is no merit in loving someone who loves you. Even the pagans do that.
Not only did he tell us to love sinners but he went further and told us to love our enemies.

That’d be like loving Herod, Caesar, Hitler, Stalin, even Bin Laden and even Timmy McVeigh. I would die first before loving that pig, Paris Hilton!!

We are commanded to love all our fellow men. We may hate the sin, but we must love the sinner.

I suggest you have a long session with your pastor over this issue.

I guess you are not a Christian of any description, never mind a Catholic as you are rejecting what Jesus told you to do.

Then that leaves out Paris Hilton and her ilk–she’s a woman, NOT a man.

With all due respect, didn’t the bible say we must stay away from such bad company? And that we must not fall down a worship those other than God? I would never worship a Herod like person. And you said fellow man, qand like i said, no offcenc, Paris hilton is a woman, not a man. What’s wrong with that fact?

If God loves all these people, why can’t we. Jesus didn’t avoid these people, he dined with them. He shunned the holy people of Israel over the sinners. Don’t you think he’s calling us to love these people and try to bring them back into the fold?

Now I (and I’m sure most everyone here) can’t stand what these people represent(ed), but we must love the person, because we are all God’s Creations.

Paris lives way far away from me, so she can’t qualify as a neighbor. That was what my teacher taught me back in Cambridge.
What did Jesus say when they asked him, “Who is my neighbor?”

He told the parable of the Good Samaritan – a man who lived far away and was of a dispised group. And he showed how that Samaritan was a good neighbor to a man he had never met before.

Paris Hilton is your neighbor. We are commanded to love one another, without exceptions.

So did the Samaritan, who was on the way to Jerusalem when he found the poor man lying in the ditch.

What did Jesus ask, “Now which man was his neighbor** (Levite, priest, or Samaritan) ?”

P.S. Ooooh, Vern! I can’t believe I let you beat me to it!

Paris dosen’t live next door to me, so she can’t be a neighbor.

Let’s see if this breaks through the crust:
[2303](javascript:openWindow(‘cr/2303.htm’)😉 Deliberate *hatred *is contrary to charity. Hatred of the neighbor is a sin when one deliberately wishes him evil. Hatred of the neighbor is a grave sin when one deliberately desires him grave harm. “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.”
Gee! Christ tells us to love our enemies!

Hatred of Paris Hilton is a sin.

Vern, you finally said something I agree with! I’m so happy! One of the reasons I come to this forum is to try to find common ground with people I don’t agree on all issues with. Have a Holy Advent! 😃
