Would Jesus say "Hail To The Chief" To Any President And/Or World Leader?

I think Jesus’ answer would be along these lines; first, “Hail to the Chief” is totally irrelevant to his message He gave His life to (The Kingdom of God), second, He already answered that question, and third while it’s a great tune and can strike patriotic pride it was written and meant for the use by the military only in greating their Commander-in-Chief. Jesus is not nor was he in the Arm Services of the USA so once again the question is irrelevant.

Lady Cygnus:
I’m wondering if you are really reading the responses and just not understanding where we come from or just posting to hear (see) yourself talk…

I’m going to assume the former…SO…
  1. According to your orriginal post, we should not honor leaders because it is a form of worship.
  2. It was later replied that honor and worship are not the same.
  3. We both agree that worship belongs only to God.
  4. It was pointed out again…many times, that we are required (by Jesus, the Bible and the Church) to HONOR those in authority over us.
  5. This Honor IS NOT the same as Worship.
I hope this helps 👍

ps - if you are still confused, please point out the specific item (1-5) that is causing this confusion. It will help the discussion.
Which passage in the bible does it say?

And Not Worthy what lennon said, “Christianity will go, it will vanish and shrink. I am right, and will be proven right. We’re more popular than Jesus.”

Hmmmm… it must have been after his original statement on some talk show (Dick Cavett’s?). The media had a feast with that! I still stick with the sad thought that, at the time, I think the Beatles would have drawn more people than Jesus.

Which passage in the bible does it say?
Matthew 5:41 - Should anyone press you into service for one mile, go with him for two miles.
This refers to a common practice that the Roman soldiers would do to humble someone from a conquered territory, like Israel. If they wanted to, by law, they could stop anyone in Israel, and make them carry their equipment for up to one mile. This was one of the many techniques the Romans would use to remind the Jews who was boss.

Those Romans threw their weight around too much. Helping people out is one thing, but giving homage to earthly people like them is another story.

I was clarifying your question on the following statement:

The Israeli’s wanted Jesus to lead a rebellion. Jesus did his best to show that you should respect secular authority and live by their rules, of course falling short of Homage.

If you use this as an absolute Germany would be run by the Nazis and we’d still be British citizens.

Hmmmmmm… I’m gonna have to think on that one. Good point!

It’s not an absolute.

We are to obey the authorties over us; however, we obey God FIRST! If someone is abusing their authority we have a duty to take appropriate measures to remove them from that position.

So, if commanded by our government to murder our Jewish neighbors we can disobey in order to obey God’s law.

As far as I know there are no porn stars nor celebs in position of authority over me 😛

Since the politicians make up the government they have a position of honor, thus deserve a level of respect (no matter how much I dislike his policies or morals). You can disagree with them, but not disrespect. And since we live in a republic, if I don’t like their policies I can work to get them voted out the next election.

But then again, I wouldn’t disrespect anyone (I’d get a hard slap for that when gowing up  )

Were you aware, the authority people, goverment people and politicians were like celebs–they’re corrupt? Remember Nixon and Clinton?

777? How many people have you converted with this compassion of yours? It’s touching.

In the case of celebs, politicians, and others, I prefer to treat them like they are good people until they prove otherwise. But each on their own basis. Clinton’s and Nixon’s guilt do not damn every other politician, now does it?

So do you think everybody in the whole world is corrupt??

And yet you worship John Lennon, and claim he was a “martyr for his beliefs.”

Shame on you.
