Lol, chalk it up to whatever you want.

You asked me what I thought and I told you and I gave you far more support for my arguments than you have given for yours.
On the contrary I cited 11 different data sets in post #149 that support my point that recent warming has been much faster than the natural warming that occurred after the Little Ice Age. You have cited zero data sets that support your claim to the contrary.

If population were everything, then India should be churning out more patents than Germany… oh wait, where is it?

As any child playing Civilization will tell you, to be doing any research at all you must first have (a) food surplus then (b) trade surplus and (c) an educated population. (a) is the reason India does not even register on the graph. (b) is why Germany trumps Poland, although diet in both countries is similar; and (c) is why Japan and Korea beat US. If you have none of these things due to overpopulation and/or overconsumption of resources, you are not able to afford any research. Game over.

The reason Malthus was wrong is that he made his prediction at the beginning of the carbon age – when we have learned to use fossil carbon to support the ever-growing popualtion. In case you didn’t know how modern agriculture works – we’re essentially eating oil. Today, we’re running out of carbon, and there’s nothing on the horizon which is coming close to replacing it.
The thing holding India back is not her population or lack of a food surplus. India is still recovering from decades wasted on a socialist economic system. Your data is at least 9 years old and things have changed quite a bit, with ?India entering into space and their research has expanded enormously.

But a better example would be France, which once had the largest population of any nation on the planet after India and China, and that population allowed it to yield some of the best minds in history as well as some of the largest and best quality armies for its day.

After the French Revolution the population of France has stagnated, pretty much.

masterliness.com/a/Demographics.of.France.htm
•until 1795 metropolitan France was the most populous country of Europe, above even Russia, and the third most populous country in the world, behind only China and India
•between 1795 and 1866, metropolitan France was the second most populous country of Europe, behind Russia, and the fourth most populous country in the world, behind China, India, and Russia
•between 1866 and 1911, metropolitan France was the third most populous country of Europe, behind Russia and Germany
•between 1911 and 1931, metropolitan France was the fourth most populous country of Europe, behind Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom
•between 1931 and 1991, metropolitan France was the fifth most populous country of Europe, behind Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy
•between 1991 and 1997, metropolitan France recovered its rank as the fourth most populous country of Europe, behind Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom
•since 1997, metropolitan France has recovered its rank as the third most populous country of Europe, behind Russia and Germany. Worldwide, France’s ranking has fallen to twentieth most populous country.
•if current demographic trends continue (i.e. declining population in Germany, and slightly rising population in France), around 2050 metropolitan France could become again the second most populous country of Europe behind Russia
Losing its standing as most populous nation in Europe did not help France remain powerful, but only insured it would be eclipsed by Russia and Germany.

One thing I’ve learned is they either rely on no data, just guess-work. Or they use fallacious logic, red herrings, and strawman arguments, including "policy implications determines the scientific facts (r/t the other way around), etc. And they form circular firing squads, shooting down other contrarian arguments against AGW.

There is absolutely no way you can discuss this rationally and scientifically with them. They just plain do not want to know about or accept or care about AGW. The end…of a large chunk of humanity.

Climate science appears to the best field one can be in-when you are wrong that proves you are right…

Does this mean you have finally apprehended the truth, and having done so, will leave the intellectually unwashed alone as you hold it hostage? 🙂

Well, shooting the messenger always seems to suffice for AGW proponents who have run out of legitimate arguments.

Wow, that is just a classic case of sweeping dismissiveness based on absolutely not one point of evidence, fact or reason.

Congratulations on an absolutely perfect example of irrational argument.

You cited ‘adjusted’ data set that are filled with fudged numbers. Literally the product of subroutines need ‘Fudge Factor’ in one case. That means you have presented nothing at all.

And I said I based my assertion on, and it doesn’t have to be a data set to be valid for me to cite it. It could be a chart based on valid data and I have never claimed otherwise.

They ‘know’ they are right because they have managed to get the media behind them, little else.

By citing my source I have opened it up to your criticisms that is all “fudged data”, etc. But by your not citing your chart or other source, you have carefully protected it from such criticism. Understandable, if you don’t have any confidence in your source. Remember, all you need to do is to cite some trusted source that shows temperature readings during the industrial age did not rise any faster than the rise that occurred coming out of the Little Ice Age, which was your claim.

But don’t you see, Leaf, this is one of their red herring fallacious arguments.

Even if it had warmed as fast coming out of the Little Ice Age, so what??? That in no way at all would disprove that our industrial GHG emissions of today are causing AGW.

So what if the MWP was warmer than today (which has not been established globally, but if it were to be then SO WHAT???), or the end-Permian great extinction event, or the PETM, or the Eocene Optimum, or… None of this disproves AGW of today.

So what if it is getting colder in Podunk or part of the Antarctic is gaining sea ice. From the get-go the claim has been made about GLOBAL warming, not local or regional warming.

So what if there is a true pause of 18 years (and they find it did not go into the ocean); climate scientists have always known there are many factors impacting the climate (which is why they need many decades of data); they know perfectly well there will not be straight-line, strictly increasing warming. A humungous volcanic eruption unknown to human history could happen next year and deflect the warming for years, perhaps decades, but it would also be contributing to GW long term, as the atmosphere cleared and the CO2 remained, and CO2 can remain in the atmosphere for centuries, even millennia.

NONE of the skeptic arguments hold any water at all. They are ALL bogus and fallacious. And, I’m sorry to say, it seems they are purposely meant to deceive innocent people.

This isn’t a game and neither of us ‘wins’ anything in the discussion. I am sharing my thoughts with you among others so that I can learn and hone and more effectively organize what I think I know.

There is no point to this ‘my sources vrs your sources’ nonsense. I do not own any sources. I take my data from what is publicly available and there are obviously other data sets available aside from the doctored trumped up data released by AGW proponents.

If you cannot figure that out I cannot help you.

Like I said-its a great profession to be in. It is impossible for to be wrong-why even when their models are falsified it proves they were right!

http://omegashock.com/images/oil-humans.jpg
And it’s not just oil we’re running out of, but concomitant pollution that’s harming people and other resource depletion, with dire projections for our human population on into the future (our kids & grandkids). Here’s a graph to add to yours:
http://www.colorado.edu/econ/courses/roper/sustainable-economics/resource-productivity/meadows.gif

And I don’t think the authors of Beyond the Limits (1992) are even close to including the negative impact of AGW on food productivity up thru this century and well beyond. They have since factored it in more – see donellameadows.org/

Now let us hope these researchers are wrong on this and that everyone will be shifting to alt energy as swiftly as possible and feasible and we’ll all get on the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle-BuyRecycled bandwagon… Let us pray for that.

But don’t you see, Leaf, this is one of their red herring fallacious arguments.
What argument is fallacious? That I think that there is large room for doubt about AGW? Wow, I must admit I amazed at how some have turned science into a religion where one cannot dare question the dogma of AGW theory.
Even if it had warmed as fast coming out of the Little Ice Age, so what??? That in no way at all would disprove that our industrial GHG emissions of today are causing AGW.
Because that might also explain much of the warming, Einstein. 😃
So what if the MWP was warmer than today (which has not been established globally, but if it were to be then SO WHAT???), or the end-Permian great extinction event, or the PETM, or the Eocene Optimum, or… None of this disproves AGW of today.
Well, since the support for AGW is basically 1) the Earth is warming, 2) we know CO2 is a Greenhouse gas and 3) we are producing more greenhouse gas, therefore 4) our increased CO2 emissions MUST be the cause of that warming, to show OTHER sources for that warming is germane for most thinking people.
So what if it is getting colder in Podunk or part of the Antarctic is gaining sea ice. From the get-go the claim has been made about GLOBAL warming, not local or regional warming.
Because AGW fanatics have insisted that the melting Artic ice has been proof that the globe is warming. Why is the Artic ice shrinkage proof of global warming but the Antarctic ice growing is only weather?
So what if there is a true pause of 18 years (and they find it did not go into the ocean); climate scientists have always known there are many factors impacting the climate (which is why they need many decades of data); they know perfectly well there will not be straight-line, strictly increasing warming. ‘Mommy the doggy ate my homework!’

Because though everyone has known for a long time that CO2 is a greenhouse gas, and there is NO TEST FAIL for AGW. You are presenting a tautology, an untestable and unscientific theory.

IF I am wrong, what is the FAIL result? What has to happen on this planet for AGW to be proven wrong? If there is no such set of FAIL conditions then AGW is not science, it is merely regurgitated blathering.
NONE of the skeptic arguments hold any water at all. They are ALL bogus and fallacious. And, I’m sorry to say, it seems they are purposely meant to deceive innocent people.
Wow, you sound like a real genuine expert.

So what are the TEST FAIL criteria that would prove AGW to be FALSE?

IF you know of none either you aren’t the expert you claim to be or AGW is not science.

This isn’t a game and neither of us ‘wins’ anything in the discussion. I am sharing my thoughts with you among others so that I can learn and hone and more effectively organize what I think I know.
I agree it is not a matter of winning or losing. I think each of us is trying to convince the other of their point, as we should. But an argument is much more convincing when it is backed up by something other than someone’s gut level feeling. That is why I have not asked you to take my word for anything I have said. You don’t know me from anyone, and there is no reason you should take my word for anything. Instead I have referred you to publicly available sources that show that temperatures have risen substantially faster in the industrial age. You dispute the accuracy of those sources, but many learned people do not. If you are going to propose the exceptional view that my sources are corrupted, and if you expect your proposal to be convincing, you should cite some better source of data that supports your point more than it supports my point. Then you would be on the road to being convincing. But if you have no interest in convincing anyone of your point, then just keep right on making unsubstantiated claims. (Saying that your claims are supported by public data, but declining to point to that data does not count as substantiation.)

Like I said-its a great profession to be in. It is impossible for to be wrong-why even when their models are falsified it proves they were right!
Have you ever read of a FAIL test result for AGW?

What would have to happen for AGW to be disproven?

And a reminder I am sure you are aware of; any theory that is not capable of being disproven is not science; it is a tautology, not science.

Evidently AGW must be taken as a matter of Faith. Absolutely nothing disproves it. If its hot in December that is proof of AGW. If it snows in Sept that proves AGW. If Sea ice shrinks that is proof of AGW-if sea ice increase that is proof of AGW.

The Greenland ice core samples show evidence of a series of warming and cooling that has occurred throughout our planets history.

jonova.s3.amazonaws.com/graphs/lappi/gisp-last-10000-new.png

Temperatures have been falling and rising for EVER on this planet. And there is not one solid reason I see to say it is because we are burning too many fossil fuels and so simply MUST give the government total control over everything we do in our lives under so-called ‘carbon footprint’ laws.

The cost vrs the likely risks appear to me to be overwhelmingly in favor of ‘collect more data’ before making such a drastic decision.
