Getting back to the “you ain’t black” theme, all the talking heads on cable channels seem to have glossed over the issue and are comfortable with the idea of a racist Joe Biden. By doing so, are they themselved subconsciously admitting to what they call institutionalized racism? This is not a big deal to them because they all know that they themselves share Biden’s views?

Biden has never struck me as an “elite.” I do think that both he and the current president share the problem of expressing their stream of conciousness without a filter where in situations where giving more thought and using more measured language would be advantaguous.
Personally I dont think the use of that phrase is any more a problem than a representative speaking in Español to her constituents. The use of the “man” in that way was borne from an environment in which caucasian people refused to acknowledge a black man as an equal and would use the word “boy” and other condescending phrases to refer to African-American men. African-American men would assert to each other that they were men.
“I am a man.”
I’m pretty sure there were those that saw the usage as purely slang without recognizing the connection to civil rights struggles or the connection to the Dred Scott decision. (“Am I not a Man?”).

Sadly, as hinted by the OP, what Joe Biden said does seem to be pretty much what the Democratic Party has believed for a long time, that they have the black vote in the bag.
It wasn’t just what he said, but the way he said it. He seemed so confident, so sure of himself, when he said ‘take a look at my record man, I have a record that’s second to none, the NAACP has endorsed me every time I’ve run.’

I truly doubt that. Trump has staged pep rallies with his tame news outlet at Fox or Breitbart but that’s it. When pressed on issues he just retreats.

It’s interesting how Trump supporters won’t let go of the “deplorable” insult after all these years. Yes it was a terrible thing for Clinton to say. It was a “deplorable” comment without a doubt. Yet Trump trashes, insults, and demeans people routinely on Twitter and Trump supporters applaud and defend his trash talk. He just called a bunch of Fox commentators “garbage” for not supporting him. These kinds of vile insults against human beings is ROUTINE for this president… and even devout Catholics defend it. Our Lord had very harsh things to say about those who so much as call another human being a “fool”.

The comment was not as deplorable as it has been made out to be by critics in low fidelity remarks.
- She talked specific about what is deplorable: racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia.
- She specifically called attention to the other side of the coin, talked about how those Trump supporters, with legitimate issues, have been not been heard, and sought to reach out to them.
- She readily indicated that the half an half split overestimated those with deplorable behavior; I ma not so sure that she is correct on that point.

I was trying to be fair in extending my criticisms to both side… but regardless of whether Clinton’s comments were justifiable, Trump supporters who condemn her for it turn around and defend Trump’s trash talk / insults against others.

Who supports and defends his trash talk? Trash is trash. He does this to keep the media attention on himself. And the media need him to do this. Without Trump they will all go bankrupt. (many are almost there anyway) Without their constant attacks on him, many voters would probably leave the Trump camp. As things stand now, he is the opposition to the smug coastal elites. And this is the reason why people support him. (this may be news to you)
And when the coastal elites show their true colors (racism; contempt for the working class in “flyover country”), we do take note.

Quite a few people on this forum. Some deplore the excesses, some call it exaggeration, some just wave it away based on is support for cause they espouse.
There is the rub. You could not get over the humiliation of your party being defeated by a character with bad manners and no political experience. The brilliant, educated elites were too arrogant to notice that it was precisely their arrogance that forced them out of power. And it is power that they want. They will go on pretending to care about the poor and downtrodden as they do the bidding of corporate America.
Hypocricy is slightly worse that arrogance.

Some champion the fact that he is giving it back to coastal elites - of which he, ironically is one.
So far, I see the racists and the xenophobes on the left of the political spectrum.
As far is islamophobia goes, my Islamic friends all support Trump and detetested Obama. So, maybe you should refrain for spouting the talking points and actually start talking to people. And so dome critical thinking. You might be surprised.
