Could we bash Protestantism on air just once? Once? This isn’t fair. 😦
No, we can’t:

1 Peter 3:15b-16 - “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence, keeping your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who defame your good conduct in Christ may themselves be put to shame.”

You know you are listening to Protestant radio when you hear the host talking about Saints by referring to them as “the strong Christian, so-and-so” instead of “St. So-and-so.” So annoying that they talk about our wonderful Catholic Saints and go to lengths to hide the fact that these amazing men and women were–gasp–Catholic!

I heard a Protestant preacher, amidst some wily organ music, preach “Not only will He give you everything you need… He’ll give you anything you want!!!” My husband and I still laugh about that one! Fr. Corapi calls that attitude thinking of God as a slot machine–putting in a few prayers and hoping you get the jackpot 😃

you hear the preacher say, “Please make an offering for my book which is published by Moody Press.”

If you happen to be listening to pentecostal radio it is,

“I just got a vision from the LORD GOD HIMSELF! God came down upon me and told me that everyone, yes everyone, has to send me $300. Now folks, this is GOD HIMSELF TALKING! Take out your checkbooks and give in to the Holy Spirit! Can you FEEL the HOLY SPIRIT!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!! Yes, get out those checkbooks and GOD WILL HEAL YOU of your sins!!! Feel the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!”
Does simony apply to Protestants? Some might be surprised to see it on their “bill of indictment” if so.

you hear that “the end of the world is coming soon, but if you are saved you will be ‘raptured’ and not have to live through the tribulation.”

…(especially common on Stations that isn’t limited to one sect)
You hear the Preacher preach something in his show that contradicts what another Pastor said in another program earlier.

Well, simony is certainly biblical (refers to the episode in Acts betwen Peter and Simon Magus). I should imagine it’s just as possible for a Protestant as a Catholic to sell spiritual benefits. So I don’t think any of 'em should be too surprised - provided they’ve read the darn thing.

OK, how about not ending the Our Father (which they will probably call The Lord’s Prayer) at the words “…and deliver us from evil. Amen.”😃
LOL – at my son’s memorial mass (he was buried elsewhere with a full service) our born-again friends were behind us, and when the Our Father stopped, they continued on for three words and then got really red in the face…LOL – it still makes me giggle

Gosh, I was going to say … when the music is uplifting & safe for my kids to hear.

I pick up K-Love… GREAT Christian music! 👍

There’s a station here in Cleveland called WFHM the Fish. They actually sponsor the Catholic festival held every summer at the Seminary. The Fest has Christian music, a Mass and fireworks. It’s put on by the vocations group and that station is one of the sponsors. They are a commercial station in Salem Communications, not a Moody Bible Group station; so it’s all music that’s safe for the family and no preaching.

Now the Moody Bible Group station is a different story. I like the music and a few of their programs, but many of the preachers are definitely anti-Catholic.

Yep, unfortunatly I agree.

You know it’s a protestant station when you hear people sponging for money to evangelize people in Catholic countries. Drives me NUTS!

That’s a new one for me. Generally, the Protestant radio I’ve heard talks about evangelizing Catholics in the USA. I’m not sure about numbers, whether the USA is really a Catholic country or not.

…you’re listening to a good discussion of one of the Epistles and all of a sudden, the host throws in “…and that’s why we don’t worship idols like the Papists.”

Or, “Start by sowing your $200 Seed of Faith! Let the Lord bless you with a new house, a new car, etc.” And then the inevitable pick-and-choose of Bible verses to support the name-and-claim doctrine.

Yes, we do have a mainstream Christian station here in Detroit (as DJRakowski mentioned). I haven’t listened to it in years, not since I heard both a syndicated program and one of their station hosts say anti-Catholic things that I found offensive. I’ll stick to Ave Maria Radio, Michigan Catholic Radio, or the Sirius Catholic stations, thanks very much.

You know you’re listening to any protestant program when any and all requests for money are referred to as “love offerings”.
“Do I hear an** AMEN-NA**?!?!?!?!”

That’s a defining mark between Catholics and Protestants.

We Catholics at Mass say the Our Father up to ‘deliver us from Evil.’ then follow it up with ‘Deliver us, Lord from every evil,…’ then after that we say the ‘For Thine is the Kingdom,…’

The Protestants just say them without the Libera Nos. 😃

If you’re ever in South Carolina on I-85 or US-25 (Greenville and northwards), or, on a good day, around Hendersonville, NC, tune in to 1300, Upstate South Carolina Catholic radio.

I don’t remember the call letters 😦 , but we’re happy they’re here!👍
