This post is for everyone…not specific to Pete.

I wanted to comment on the New Testament and the original language that was used. I am providing a link that gives both sides of the “so-called” controversy on the subject as to whether the OT was written in Aramaic or Greek. On the onset, I will say that the Greek language was not uncommon and the Aramaic was the most common among the Jews and that Latin was also a major language with the Romans. I believe that it was most likely Greek because of the known manuscripts and some other reason mentioned in the link below: Read by parts, I believe at the end you will have to drawl your own conclusion based on the weight of the evidences.

I’m sorry to go off topic, but one line caught my eye. drawl your own conclusions, Are you from the good ol" south?😃

DEAR NON-CATHLOIC I SEE YOU HAVE NON-RELIGION SO YOU MUST HAVE YOUR INTERPRETATION OF THE BIBLE ,IF YOU READ THE BIBLE YOU CAN SEE THAT IS NOT THE RIGHT THING TO DO GET YOUR BIBLE AND PLEASE READ 1TIM 3;15,THANK YOU AND HAVE A GREAT DAY
1 Timothy 3:15 but in case I am delayed, {I write} so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.

Religion says "none- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ
It was intentional not to mention the denomination of the church I attend because in this day it has become meaningless except in a few circumstance (i.e Islam). The important aspect of a church you attend should be the “preaching and teaching” of the Word in an honorable fashion, accurately dividing the Word of God and equipping people to do the same.

Not only that, I am a Christian, which is a person, not a religion. I hope this gives some clarification to you and any eles that may have wondered about that.

Thanks and God bless you with joy and peace!

HI ,IN READING YOUR POST YOU USE 1TIM3=15 CAN YOU PLEASE TELL WHAT CHURCH WAS AROUND AT THAT TIME

The Rosary is meditating on the life of Christ- no different than repeating the Our Father.

Hi NonCatholic,

I noticed in your profile that you have stated that you belong to “none religion”, but that you have a personal relationship with Christ.

I have no problem with that, and I don’t discount Christ’s love for you. What I am curious about is, what is your definition of religion?
Any system or institution which one engages with in order to foster a sense of meaning or relevance in relation to something greater than oneself.
Do you want Catholics to cease our devotion to Mary
I can’t tell you what to do; it’s your religion, but I can say that the Mary of the Bible does not resemble the Mary of the Catholic church based on what the Bible tells us, which isn’t much.
And how does one belong to a “none religion” Do you worship with other people or are you simply alone with God. Do you accept the the Apostle’s Creed?
Have a personal relationship with Christ and avoid institutions that have revelation outside of Scripture.

Yes, I go to a church building filled with true believers and probably some phonies.

On the Apostles Creed, I agree with the non-Catholic version.
Who are your mentors?
Jesus, Paul, Moses, Peter, Mark, Luke, John - Biblical writers, Holy Spirit, John MacArthur, Gerode Whitfiled, Charles Spurgeon, John Bunyan…a few more.
Code:
Are you truly alone in your interpretation of the scriptures?
The Holy Spirit who guides to the truth of the tings of God is primary.

There were a bunch of churches around then. For starters, the churches in Corinth, Rome, Philippi, Collosae, Ephesus, and the churches in Galatia. Paul helped found a bunch. What’s your point?

There are enough phenomenal commentaries, great non-Catholic seminaries, teaching pastors, etc to confirm that the Church is dynamically alive and well outside of Rome, busy seeing people come to faith in…Rome?..no…the Lord Jesus Christ and the FINISHED work of the cross. I think if you look to see what churches most closely resemble what was happening in Acts, with people being converted to CHRIST upon the preaching of the cross, you’ll find a lot more outside the RCC. Wonder why…

Basically, it is one man’s opinion against the opinions of others. Ask yourself this question: If Latin was the Mother Tongue of Roman’s, and Hebrew or Araimic was the Mother Tongue of the Jews, and they were writing documents, and considering that the Apostles were not necessarily “Highly Educated” men… why would they be compelled to record anything in Greek?

This site disputes yours: v-a.com/bible/

And the content of this page casts much doubt on whether or not it was “originally” written in “Greek”: newadvent.org/cathen/10057a.htm

*General character of the Gospel

Distinct unity of plan, an artificial arrangement of subject-matter, and a simple, easy style–much purer than that of Mark–suggest an original rather than a translation. When the First Gospel is compared with books translated from the Hebrew, such as those of the Septuagint, a marked difference is at once apparent. The original Hebrew shines through every line of the latter, whereas, in the First Gospel Hebraisms are comparatively rare, and are merely such as might be looked for in a book written by a Jew and reproducing Jewish teaching.** However, these observations are not conclusive in favour of a Greek original. In the first place, the unity of style that prevails throughout the book, would rather prove that we have a translation. It is certain that a good portion of the matter existed first in Aramaic–at all events, the sayings of Christ, and thus almost three-quarters of the Gospel.** Consequently, these at least the Greek writer has translated. And, since no difference in language and style can be detected between the sayings of Christ and the narratives that are claimed to have been composed in Greek, it would seem that these latter are also translated from the Aramaic. This conclusion is based on the fact that they are of the same origin as the discourses. Theunity of plan and the artificial arrangement of subject-matter could as well have been made in Matthew’s Aramaic as in the Greek document; the fine Greek construction, the lapidary style, the elegance and good order claimed as characteristic of the Gospel, are largely a matter of opinion, the proof being that critics do not agree on this question. Although the phraseology is not more Hebraic than in the other Gospels, still it not much less so. To sum up, from the literary examination of the Greek Gospel no certain conclusion can be drawn against the existence of a Hebrew Gospel of which our First Gospel would be a translation; and inversely, this examination does not prove the Greek Gospel to be a translation of an Aramaic original.*

I guess my point is this: Just because a bunch of people say it is so, doesn’t necessarily mean its so… From what I have read, I find it difficult to believe that native speakers of one language would automatically write in a second or third language… unless of course they were entirely at home in that language and capable of idiomatic expression.

One was a physician, one a tax collector, and the rest were a variety of occupations…none were linguistic scholars, or highly educated…thus, there is much room for argument as to the “original” language of the scriptures, unless you are talking about the “original translations”…but then there were original translations into many languages.

It’s the 21st century?🤷 I wonder why there isn’t just one protestant denomination. Too many different interpretations of the Bible for me to take any of them seriously.

What we have in Acts, among other things, is the clearly laid out example of Church hierarchy.

The Christians at Antioch, when confounded with a controversy regarding gentile circumcision, didn’t split into two new denominations.

They consulted the leaders of the Church then followed their teaching.

Catholic=EVERYWHERE THE SAME=THAT THEY MAY BE ONE=ONE FLOCK, ONE SHEPHERD

Dont forget the eunoch who founded the Ethiopian Church how about Thomas in India starting churches.

That’s a cop-out. Most of those interpretations are very similar to RCC, except on some critical issues. When you stand before God one day you won’t be able to hide behind the RCC. You will be accountable for what you interpreted and believed. I urge you to make sure you know what Jesus and Paul meant when they said…“You must be born again”…“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”…"God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time."

It isn’t a question at all, all Catholics talk to God as HE IS OUR FATHER. Be real? You treat God as some petty little 3 year old who can’t understand how much we love Him in our hearts because we’re not shouting Praise God 24 hours a day so that everyone can see what good Christians we are. And since, by your last sentence says, I can tell him my requests for others, how much the better that the Blessed Virgin ans the Saints add their voices to my requests since they are with Him in Heaven.
Friend, do you even know what a saint is?

…“You must be born again”…“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Jesus also said:

Now remain in my love. 10If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

And…

19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

And…

Luke 10
16"He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."

Just my opinion - It seems that those who are most against the traditions of our Church have no traditions of their own. It seems they have no choice except “picking” at our tradition rich Church.

When I stand before God it will be with the humility of knowing that I am nothing and He is everything, not with the arrogance that I know his word better than everyone else.

Friend, do you even know what a saint is?
A New Orleans football player. Look I’m not trying to destroy your faith and I’m not going to let you question mine. We don’t know each other and we don’t know what’s in each others heart. All I know is that everything I’ve read in the Bible ( yes, Catholics do read the Bible) by my understanding, tells me that the Catholic Church is the Church Christ built. I have no reason to doubt that. I’m sure you have no doubts in your Faith. Hopefully the path to Heaven won’t be too rocky for either of us.
It’s late, and I’m tired, so good night and God Bless You.
