We’re supposed to bow our heads during the Creed? Please tell me if I have this correctly, I’m new. And could you please provide a cite for this?

Actually, it is supposed to be a *profound bow *(of the body, not just the head). It is printed in every missal/missalette/worship aid I have ever seen. From the GIRM (General Instruction of the Roman Missal):
  1. The Creed is sung or recited by the priest together with the people (cf. above, no. 68) with everyone standing. At the words *et incarnatus est (by the power of the Holy Spirit . . . became man) *all make a profound bow; but on the Solemnities of the Annunciation and of the Nativity of the Lord, all genuflect.

Count me among those who can’t tell if others are bowing when I am myself bowing. 🤷 It is also something I do not label so much *Traditional *as *faithful/attentive *:twocents:

If I can say this; I know it’s off topic…but I bow too from the waist. When people do this the sound of their voices change. That’s how I can tell. Perhaps that’s my imagination…but everyone sort of sounds muffled.

When for college writing, every single essay you turn in has to do with Church History or Theology.

My bad - and I actually do do the bow from the waist. Don’t know why I said ‘head’.

If your parish has misalettes with the order of Mass in it, read the Creed, it should state that there is a bow during the words ‘by the power of the Holy Spirit, He became incarnate from the Virgin Mary and was made man’.

S’okay. As far as head bowing goes, I also sometimes wonder, when Father confers a solemn blessing, beginning with the invitation “Bow your heads and pray for God’s Blessing”, whether anyone else besides me is bowing his head…? 🤷

I joined the Catholic Church 26 years ago.

I have the priest over for dinner.

I genuflect like I have weak knees because I have weak knees.

I can do some Latin because I took two years of classical latin in High School

But here it really is for me…

About three years ago I BECAME Catholic, not like the church I attend or the theology I believe, but WHO I AM at a cellular level, in my being. It’s what I am in my bones and blood and marrow. That doesn’t always make me a good Catholic, I’m still clueless at times, I fail alot and have to confess and ask for forgiveness and prayer. Sometimes things go pretty good. I’m content with who I am. Life is OK.

When you’re the only one in the NO Mass who bows their head when “Jesus” is said.

When you’re the only one in the NO who hits their chest during the “Lamb of God.”

When you’re the only one in the NO making a profound bow and crossing himself when the priest and crucifer walk down the isle.
 
What I don’t get is that…people go to SSPX masses when those priests are suspended. They aren’t allowed to say Mass. The Mass is valid, but doesnt that make you feel a little weird to be attending a Mass where the priest is disobeying the Pope?
But are you Traditional enough to have caught my error?

“potes” is not in subjunctive. With cum clauses you have to use subjunctive verbs. Am I right?

Oooh, could be – I don’t have a good enough grasp to distinguish between a purely temporal clause (*cum *+ indicative) and a temporal-circumstantial clause (*cum *+ subjunctive)?

First off stay on topic second of all you might be on to something, you know you are a traditional catholic when you condemn even the SSPX and label them as schimatic heretics.👍 ( i personally am not guilty of this…)

It’s not about riding the horse as it is getting back on when you fall off. 👍

Good to hear of your physical imbibing of the faith, and hang in there, God has your back.
 
  • When the only real fights you have with your significant other have something to do with differences in worship (i.e…heated debates of recieving under both species, holding hands during the Our Father, etc.)
  • When you see a cute guy and wonder if he’s Catholic.
  • When you find out said guy is, sadly, not Catholic…he immediatly becomes un-date-able.
True story:

A friend of mine was engaged, breifly, to an Irish man (Catholic…and legit Irish, from Ireland:kissme:) and went to meet the parents for the first time in a small town somewhere near Dublin. Before being introduced…before getting a foot in the door…the very first question out of “ma’s” mouth is, “Hello dear. Are you Catholic?”

Now THAT’S hard-core :highprayer:

And - yes - they could use another priest to hear confessions! lol!

When you bow when the Crucifix goes past you prior to the start of Mass.

When you bow when the priest goes past in the same procession because he represents Christ.
 
  • When you look at the topics in the Traditional Catholicism section and wonder why there needs to be a separate section? Isn’t this just what Catholicism is? period?
