You know you're a Traditional Catholic when

I’ll start:

The other day, I went to the movies. When I got into the theater, I started walking to the other side where there were more seats. When I got to the middle, I stopped and was one second away from genuflecting to the movie screen! I luckily caught myself and laughed as I sat down.

Any experiences you guys have?
When I was done counting for Hide and Go Seek I did the sign of the cross. Oops.

I and other Catholics I know do this; when we witness an ambulance or life flight etc. we say a prayer.

you don’t believe in God
That is funny. Old-fashioned (and not so old-fashioned) nominal Catholics! That is very sad but probably has some truth. However, that seems to happen with every religion and denomination.

I was joking, i hope you saw that. I didn’t mean to deny god or anything.

You just CAN’T bring yourself to eat TUNA CASSEROLE on Friday’s during lent. LOL
(I still think it’s the most ghastly concoction ever created…the more things you add to it, the worse it gets.)

You leave the OF Mass feeling “unfed” spiritually, except for the Eucharist.
You wonder why there is always some noise going on (organ, flute, trumpet etc.) at the points where you would most appreciate silence as when you’ve just received Holy Communion and wish to talk to Our Lord, but oh no…“Please open your hymnals to page…”
Hearing the comment as you bow to receive Our Lord, “Why don’t you click your heels too?”
You wish you could receive Our Lord in the kneeling position, but with a bad back you have no hope of that without a communion rail.
…you know what a communion rail is.👍

…You can’t stand the ridiculous interpolations in the Agnus dei, like -Jesus- Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the World…

…You do not look around during the sign of peace.

…You keep xeroxing copies of Sacrosanctum Concilium to give your priest…

…You consider most Catholics as Either Liberals or Modernists, or some kind of semi-pelagians…

you wonder what kind of you gift you should offer the Lord as a sacrifice before the next mass.

  1. You genuflect before the Tabernacle, no matter what strange angle or position it is situated on the modern altar, and you keep looking towards it with reverence, believing Christ to be truly present there…
  2. You become irritated when entering the church to hear people chatting loudly with each other as if they are attending a social gathering in a hall, and you can’t concentrate on your prayers due to this…

Those are signs of being traditional. But all above that the Catholic tradition starts with the acceptance of the Magisterium, and without that it is not true tradition.

  • You wonder how you could possibly have called yourself “catholic” a few years ago, when your faith was lukewarm, to say the best.
  • It´s intellectual mortification to read ANY newspaper that isn´t traditionalist and catholic.
  • You cannot muster any enthusiasm for the coming beatification of Pope John Paul II.
  • In your opinion, the TV is the worst weapon of mass (spiritual) destruction ever.
  • You make the sign of the cross every time you pass a catholic church, on foot or in the car.
  • You always greet priests and religious (who are identifiable as such) when you pass them on the street.

except for Salmon Loaf

ykyaTCwhen

learning they have restored the 3 fold mea culpa to the revised English translation you automatically strike your breast 3 times, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault, just rolls of the tongue

It’s like riding a bike

My brother is a dead giveaway since I gave him a couple of bamboo backscratchers, the ones with the little “hand” and he holds them out sideways in his parish when they start grabbing each other for the Our Father

He also holds up his Adoremus hymnal and lip syncs when the rest of them are doing something from “gather”

When you refuse to go to the student mass, despite the free dinner afterwards, because they use abhorrent things like guitars and modern music…and the homilies are often tinged with comments about your local school’s football performance.

When the one time you attended a Tridentine mass, you cry at the end when the priest recites the prayer to Saint Michael, and wonder why it was removed from the liturgy.

… you cringe at the thought of celebrating a Holy day on the nearest Sunday instead of the actual day it falls on.

You have to explain to your fellow Catholics that meat is still not allowed on Friday.

You are one of only two people in the parish who receives kneeling and on the tongue, and the other one is an eighty year old woman.

You kneel down to receive and the Eucharistic minister is taken aback.

You and your friend (whose father is an evangelical minister) argue at lunch over the perpetual virginity of Mary and the meaning of Matthew 16:18-19.

You take it as a complement when people say “You’re so Catholic.”
