Someone on the first page of this thread posted they make the sign of the Cross when an
ambulance passes. We do that too, and when a cemetary appears next to the road.
That was a great idea also posted on the first page to have a bottle of Holy Water inside
one’s First Aid kit. Great!

This post reminded me that my Dad, who still wears a hat when he goes out, still tips his hat when passing a cemetery while driving. If he passes a cemetery while walking, he stops and says a prayer with hat in hand.

Yours is the only one I knew too until my son made his First Confession. He had to learn this one by heart, so I learned it to help him remember:

An alternative problem, in churches and basilicas in Continental Europe, is for there to be such a profusion of red-filtered candles that it’s difficult to judge whether it denotes a tabernacle with the Blessed Sacrament or is just another red-filtered candle!

I kid you not, one place was practically packed with them! Disorientating.
