I didn’t say it did.

The article is a more accurate rendering of the geneaologies, don’t you agree?
I have no idea. It does not fit with what I understand to be scientific knowledge on the topic.

I was not trying to compare against the science. Just simply the errors of Ussher.
OK. Well, it’s good to know that there is solid evidence for Usher being wrong. I really couldn’t understand how God could create the Earth at a time when people were already brewing beer.

Perhaps God made beer first. 😃 LOL I guess the song "in heaven there is no beer"is wrong too.

That was a long time ago and I am a Catholic in full standing, I am in the Brothers and Sisters of Penance and the Militia Immaculata.
Hi, historyb!

…this reminds me of Jesus’ parable of the wealthy man who set out to hire laborers… at the end they all got the same payment which was due; conversely, all of us will receive the same payment (Salvation), regardless of our beginnings and the amount of time accrued!

I have heard a recent estimate that there are 135 million people who believe in the Young Earth Theory of Creation in the United States.

Has anyone read or seen this statistic anywhere? It’s a pretty staggering number if it is true.

I will admit it boggles my mind a little. I mean Mesopotamians and Chaldeans were already brewing beer 6,000 years ago.
…ah… but was it dark or light? 😛

Evolution seems cold and hesitant, like all science. It requires serious involvement to fascinate. For an outsider it provides no comfort as it is an exercise in parsing uncertainty.

Thinking hurts.
…I think that what hurts science is that every thing is an obsolute truth: evolution, etc.

…then when another “truth” is discovered (ancient universe on the verge of collapse) the original “truth” is replaced with the new “truth” and science was right all along…

You mean you were brewing beer 6,000 years ago?

That’s sensational!

Best,

Tor

(and regarding your tagline about liberals: they are the ones who brought you the weekend. Was that wrong too?)
…you mean they created Mikelob (…sorry not a beer drinker so I don’t remember the precise spelling…) :o

Are we sure that the angels could not have been created in God’s image? Admittedly the bible does not appear to make any specific mention to the creation of the angels, although I’ve heard people make either claim (ie. that some say they have God’s image, and others say that they don’t)…

They have been created in God’s image - they are immortal beings.

I an not a scientist but have always enjoyed science and have never had a conflict believing in the Creation or in the Concept of Evolution. Let God alone to do His work the way that He wants to. Let Him out of the Box you so neatly put Him in people. You should be ashamed that you have so little faith that you can only believe a story designed for the minds of children (in mentality and development ) to understand.

I am an old man now. I believe in God more than ever. Everywhere I look I see His work. Why are the science haters so Blind! Shame on their lack of faith. Why is it so hard??

I wait with baited breath. Will they discover signs of previous life on mars. I’m almost afraid they will find life elsewhere in the Universe. But what Is really terrifying is that they will not.😦
Hi, ROBIN!

Why would it terrify you if after billions and billions of spent dollars science discovers that there is life only on earth?

Because it enables you to display your thoughts across the world in electronic form. How many mentions of God are thre in an electronics textbook or in the instruction manual for the computer you are using? Both are Godless Science. You might with to consider adopting the same lifestyle as the Amish - they avoid a great deal of Godless Science.

…so you know for a fact that not a single scientist believe in God?

Wonder, if he gets sick, if he’s going to reject “atheistic” antibiotic protocols.

Or if his toilet backs up, he’ll refuse to consider “atheistic” plumbing.

Or… 😃
…so all plumbers too do not believe in God?

What is it in oujr society that causes people to totally reject science and technology to embrace that the world is only 6000 years old? It’s rather sad.
…could it be that they reject the rejection of Yahweh God… so it would make more sense to ignore what science can prove than to side with those who reject the existence of God?

Slowly but surely. For the first time, four years ago, the Gallup Poll had an absolute majority of Americans accepting evolution. It had been a plurality for many years, but in recent years, at least 50% have accepted the basic theory of biology. The high water mark for creationism was 47%, and it has now declined to 44%.

Not a lot of progress, but progress, nonetheless.

It seems to be tracking the rising educational level of Americans. The more one knows about evolution, the more likely one is to accept it.
…but could there not be a different cause-effect issue? …say, "the more people ignore Yahweh God the more they are willing to accept all theories that deny God’s existence?

But not bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Nor was the mechanism of antibiotic resistance understood until natural selection was discovered. Antibiotic protocols use evolutionary theory to most effectively apply antibiotics in a way that delays the evolution of antibiotic resistance.

One researcher has gone a step further, analyzing the responses of bacteria to predict the likely evolution of additional resistance to help determine how to avoid that resistance in the future:

Darwin’s Time Machine: Scientists Begin Predicting Evolution’s Next Step

**ScienceDaily (Mar. 20, 2002) — Untangling the branches of evolution’s past is a daunting enough task for researchers, but some scientists are now turning their eyes toward the future in a bid to predict evolution’s course. Barry G. Hall, professor of biology at the University of Rochester, has shown how a model of evolution developed in the lab accurately reproduces natural evolution. The research, published in the March issue of Genetics, demonstrates how the model is so accurate that it can be used to predict how a strain of bacteria will become resistant to antibiotics-giving researchers a possible tool to create drugs to which bacteria cannot adapt. **

Antibiotic protocols are treatment plans designed so as to minimize the evolution of resistant bacteria. This is why you should follow directions for taking antibiotics very closely. Failure to do so could increase the likelihood of a new strain of resistance evolving.
…so why do you suppose we continue to encounter new strains that are impervious to the solutions which man continues to engineer?

OK. I see, I think. Do you think that was why Mary was made co-redemptress, because people were missing the female principle in Catholicism?

We could call it the evolution of Catholicism, if you like.
…pssst, here’s a secret… co-redemptress is just a title; the Church did not make the Virgin Mary a goddess; she has simply used a title to promote what Scriptures say about Jesus’ disciples (made into a kingdom of priests) and as St. Paul puts it “working out Salvation” “the strong” aiding the weak in the faith! Yet, this is not new… Yahweh tells His centinel (prophet) that he must warn the people of the impending danger or the blood spilled by the enemy would fall upon his head… we could very well see this as Yahweh God giving the prophet the title co-redemptor since he is instrumental in the security of the people.

When a Christian, yes even a non-Catholic one, sets out to bring the Word to others he/she becomes that person of whom Scriptures rejoices “how beautiful are the feet…”

When the Faith is attacked the Church responds to the attacks; the issue of Mary being the Mother of God did not happen overnight; there came a time when heresies conspired to make Jesus just a man or Only God and so the Church bridged the understanding that He is God and also the Son of man: the Word Incarnate come to the world He Created through Mary, both the servant of God and His Mother.

Could the issue of co-redentrix be tied to the issue of the exodus of males from the Church? I think it might well be tied to it. Could the Church be giving females a model to emulate (the perfect Mom, Disciple, daughter, sister, friend…)? It is very plausible. But Scriptures too have placed Mary in such light (crowned in Heaven, protected by God, preferred targe of the Beast, Full of Grace, Virgin with Child, blessed by all generations, suffering servant, sequestered in the desert, intermediary between Jesus and man).

…perhaps it is your understanding of God that you cannot reconcile with… for instance, where in Scriptures do you find a time set Creation? …the closest you can come is to cite the “six days of creation;” yet, the sun and the moon were not created till the 4th day… so how can you know that the time period is specifically 6-24-hour-day periods?

Further, if you read the passage prior to the “first day” of creation you will find that the heavens (universe) and the earth had already been created! How do you determine that time period?

What you just stated here is the exact opposite of how science considers its knowledge. Nothing is ever proven, nothing is ever true in science. It is just the best understanding we have at the time. Anyone can put forward a new theory. If it fits the data better than previous theories the old theories will be abandoned.

That goes for evolution as well. If someone could demonstrate convincingly that it was all done by little green men from the Andromeda galaxy, or by God, this would be the new scientific understanding. When it comes to God, science is silent on it. It does not concern itself with religion when it comes to trying to explain the world. Religion is always free to say “God did it,” and science will have no comment. It wouldn’t know how, although individual scientists may voice their opinion. They do, some on the side of divine participation, some against.

P.S. The only science we know is above all this is the science of creating a good pilsner.

You can, with scientific measurement methods. And in the end I suppose that the scientific understanding of macro-evolution fits comfortably within the Biblical narrative.
