I have no idea. It does not fit with what I understand to be scientific knowledge on the topic.I didn’t say it did.
The article is a more accurate rendering of the geneaologies, don’t you agree?

I was not trying to compare against the science. Just simply the errors of Ussher.I have no idea. It does not fit with what I understand to be scientific knowledge on the topic.
OK. Well, it’s good to know that there is solid evidence for Usher being wrong. I really couldn’t understand how God could create the Earth at a time when people were already brewing beer.I was not trying to compare against the science. Just simply the errors of Ussher.
Perhaps God made beer first.OK. Well, it’s good to know that there is solid evidence for Usher being wrong. I really couldn’t understand how God could create the Earth at a time when people were already brewing beer.
We can only hope…but hope is a powerful thing!Perhaps God made beer first.LOL I guess the song "in heaven there is no beer"is wrong too.
Hi, historyb! That was a long time ago and I am a Catholic in full standing, I am in the Brothers and Sisters of Penance and the Militia Immaculata.
…ah… but was it dark or light?I have heard a recent estimate that there are 135 million people who believe in the Young Earth Theory of Creation in the United States.
Has anyone read or seen this statistic anywhere? It’s a pretty staggering number if it is true.
I will admit it boggles my mind a little. I mean Mesopotamians and Chaldeans were already brewing beer 6,000 years ago.
…I think that what hurts science is that every thing is an obsolute truth: evolution, etc.Evolution seems cold and hesitant, like all science. It requires serious involvement to fascinate. For an outsider it provides no comfort as it is an exercise in parsing uncertainty.
Thinking hurts.
…you mean they created Mikelob (…sorry not a beer drinker so I don’t remember the precise spelling…)You mean you were brewing beer 6,000 years ago?
That’s sensational!
Best,
Tor
(and regarding your tagline about liberals: they are the ones who brought you the weekend. Was that wrong too?)
Hi, ROBIN!I an not a scientist but have always enjoyed science and have never had a conflict believing in the Creation or in the Concept of Evolution. Let God alone to do His work the way that He wants to. Let Him out of the Box you so neatly put Him in people. You should be ashamed that you have so little faith that you can only believe a story designed for the minds of children (in mentality and development ) to understand.
I am an old man now. I believe in God more than ever. Everywhere I look I see His work. Why are the science haters so Blind! Shame on their lack of faith. Why is it so hard??
I wait with baited breath. Will they discover signs of previous life on mars. I’m almost afraid they will find life elsewhere in the Universe. But what Is really terrifying is that they will not.![]()
…so you know for a fact that not a single scientist believe in God?Because it enables you to display your thoughts across the world in electronic form. How many mentions of God are thre in an electronics textbook or in the instruction manual for the computer you are using? Both are Godless Science. You might with to consider adopting the same lifestyle as the Amish - they avoid a great deal of Godless Science.

…so all plumbers too do not believe in God?Wonder, if he gets sick, if he’s going to reject “atheistic” antibiotic protocols.
Or if his toilet backs up, he’ll refuse to consider “atheistic” plumbing.
Or…![]()
…could it be that they reject the rejection of Yahweh God… so it would make more sense to ignore what science can prove than to side with those who reject the existence of God?What is it in oujr society that causes people to totally reject science and technology to embrace that the world is only 6000 years old? It’s rather sad.
…but could there not be a different cause-effect issue? …say, "the more people ignore Yahweh God the more they are willing to accept all theories that deny God’s existence?Slowly but surely. For the first time, four years ago, the Gallup Poll had an absolute majority of Americans accepting evolution. It had been a plurality for many years, but in recent years, at least 50% have accepted the basic theory of biology. The high water mark for creationism was 47%, and it has now declined to 44%.
Not a lot of progress, but progress, nonetheless.
It seems to be tracking the rising educational level of Americans. The more one knows about evolution, the more likely one is to accept it.
…so why do you suppose we continue to encounter new strains that are impervious to the solutions which man continues to engineer? But not bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Nor was the mechanism of antibiotic resistance understood until natural selection was discovered. Antibiotic protocols use evolutionary theory to most effectively apply antibiotics in a way that delays the evolution of antibiotic resistance.
One researcher has gone a step further, analyzing the responses of bacteria to predict the likely evolution of additional resistance to help determine how to avoid that resistance in the future:
Darwin’s Time Machine: Scientists Begin Predicting Evolution’s Next Step
**ScienceDaily (Mar. 20, 2002) — Untangling the branches of evolution’s past is a daunting enough task for researchers, but some scientists are now turning their eyes toward the future in a bid to predict evolution’s course. Barry G. Hall, professor of biology at the University of Rochester, has shown how a model of evolution developed in the lab accurately reproduces natural evolution. The research, published in the March issue of Genetics, demonstrates how the model is so accurate that it can be used to predict how a strain of bacteria will become resistant to antibiotics-giving researchers a possible tool to create drugs to which bacteria cannot adapt. **

Antibiotic protocols are treatment plans designed so as to minimize the evolution of resistant bacteria. This is why you should follow directions for taking antibiotics very closely. Failure to do so could increase the likelihood of a new strain of resistance evolving.
…pssst, here’s a secret… co-redemptress is just a title; the Church did not make the Virgin Mary a goddess; she has simply used a title to promote what Scriptures say about Jesus’ disciples (made into a kingdom of priests) and as St. Paul puts it “working out Salvation” “the strong” aiding the weak in the faith! Yet, this is not new… Yahweh tells His centinel (prophet) that he must warn the people of the impending danger or the blood spilled by the enemy would fall upon his head… we could very well see this as Yahweh God giving the prophet the title co-redemptor since he is instrumental in the security of the people.OK. I see, I think. Do you think that was why Mary was made co-redemptress, because people were missing the female principle in Catholicism?
We could call it the evolution of Catholicism, if you like.
…perhaps it is your understanding of God that you cannot reconcile with… for instance, where in Scriptures do you find a time set Creation? …the closest you can come is to cite the “six days of creation;” yet, the sun and the moon were not created till the 4th day… so how can you know that the time period is specifically 6-24-hour-day periods?OK. Well, it’s good to know that there is solid evidence for Usher being wrong. I really couldn’t understand how God could create the Earth at a time when people were already brewing beer.
What you just stated here is the exact opposite of how science considers its knowledge. Nothing is ever proven, nothing is ever true in science. It is just the best understanding we have at the time. Anyone can put forward a new theory. If it fits the data better than previous theories the old theories will be abandoned.…I think that what hurts science is that every thing is an obsolute truth: evolution, etc.
…then when another “truth” is discovered (ancient universe on the verge of collapse) the original “truth” is replaced with the new “truth” and science was right all along…

You can, with scientific measurement methods. And in the end I suppose that the scientific understanding of macro-evolution fits comfortably within the Biblical narrative.…perhaps it is your understanding of God that you cannot reconcile with… for instance, where in Scriptures do you find a time set Creation? …the closest you can come is to cite the “six days of creation;” yet, the sun and the moon were not created till the 4th day… so how can you know that the time period is specifically 6-24-hour-day periods?
Further, if you read the passage prior to the “first day” of creation you will find that the heavens (universe) and the earth had already been created! How do you determine that time period?
