Iām a little surprised there hasnāt been more pushback for my āsex is overratedā rant, but it gives me some hope for the rest of society, knowing that others share similar sentiments. (Not calling out your post my any means.)
Well, I do have a couple of related sentiments of my own, though they are different. Iām certainly saddened by the focus on sexual technique and performance, as well as the most physiological side of sexuality.
In the example you give, someone more sexually minded, especially more physiologically minded, could perhaps be seen in a negative light for it by someone with less libido or with more sublimation or simply ādelicacyā as old moralists would call it. For the latter person, the experience could feel disappointing and degrading. For the former, it would feel like rejection.
In this case, I am referring to someone who is too lazy to go even on a Sunday.
All right, so weekdays are out of the picture.
I recently invited a girl who is not practicing to mass on Ash Wednesday. I gave her a boatload of times, ranging from 6:45 AM to 7:30 in the evening. She said she had a tattoo appointment at 3 and āneeded to sleep.ā (She works the graveyard shift.) Anyway, given that there were masses sprinkled throughout the day and itās only an hour of commitment I was left thoroughly unimpressed.
Iād have similar feelings, I guess. Then again, you picked a non-practicing girl. You arenāt being deceived as to the meaning of religion in her lifeāunless you deceive yourself by ignoring what youāre being shown and told.
Thatās an example of a pretty sorry excuse, IMO. I know Ash Wednesday is not a Holy Day, but seriously? Thatās pretty pathetic, if you ask me.
Perhaps but still not a day of obligation.
People who are not intelligent are not nearly as interesting. Plus, it is a longer-lasting commodity than looks, so I prefer investing my time in people who are thoughtful, curious, open-minded, and well-read over people who are (for lack of a better term), simpletons. Itās personal preference for me.
I see. I asked why it went without saying.

I wanted to challenge the presumption that high intelligence is necessary to be a good, nice, interesting or otherwise worth hanging out with. For the record, plenty of people with somewhat high IQs refuse to think and as a result they talk nonsense. Look for example at journalists making idiotic comments about the Church or misinterpreting statements. E.g. you criticise in vitro as an immoral method of conception, they say you divide children into better and worse. And thatās people with Masterās degrees, whoād probably land a 120-130 result in an IQ test. Iād rather marry someone who has less bra(name removed by moderator)ower but cares to use it.
