I was just about to get out my St. Meinrad pics.

Instead, I’ll share some (borrowed) photos of Immaculate Conception Church at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana - home to the Sisters of Providence and the shrine of St. Theodora Guerin.

Very western looking! I’m curious, what liturgy do you use in Korea? Any chance for a look inside? 😊

Hello! We practice the Latin Rite- the entire Korean Catholic Church practices the Latin Rite.

And of course- let me bring up some pictures.

This church was built at the end of persecution of Catholics in Korea. It is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Korea.

Thanks for sharing this tidbit of information! I never knew the Korean Church was Latin Rite.

Although,I was surprised to see JW members chasing tourists, including in Stockholm .
Worse to see them in Rome, the pillar of Christianity! I remember they were in a corner with this pop-up newsstand with all their Watchtower stuff trying to get tourists’ attention… shocking

Covington Cathedral in Kentucky.

Absolutely jaw-dropping. It’s hard to find anything like this outside of Europe. Unfortunately, they screwed around with the interior a few years ago, taking out the altar rail and moving the altar. I guess people don’t know how to leave well enough alone. But it’s still spectacular.

Santander Cathedral, Santander, Spain.
Not one of the better known churches in Spain, but enjoyed visiting there during my time studying abroad in the city.

Some years ago when I wasn’t practicing I went to Amsterdam. It was my first trip there, I was all alone, I had all this luggage and had to find my way on foot to my hotel. Coming out of the railway station I saw a church in the distance, it looked like this:

I thought, “I’m exhausted and need to sit down so I’ll go in that church if it’s unlocked. It’s probably Protestant but I guess God won’t mind as I just need to sit for 10 minutes.”

So I went in and discovered it looked like this inside. And it was Catholic. St. Nicholas.

I also like this one. St. Peter in Canton, Ohio. It’s like going to Mass in a giant wedding cake. This church is where Servant of God Rhoda Wise attended and the pastor was her catechist when she converted from Protestantism. He also witnessed a lot of the events that led to her sainthood cause. St Peter is now a stop on the Canton “Mother Angelica Tour” and probably the connection with her and Rhoda is what’s keeping the doors open, because Canton is economically depressed and closing many churches.

The lesser known churches are the ones that I adore seeing the most! There are some truly beautiful hidden gems out there, sadly left unadvertised to tourists.

Other than my own parish, the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, AL. I took the photo with my daughter standing in front. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
