The Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana in Los Angeles, California. Not to be confused with old St. Vibiana’s Cathedral in Downtown Los Angeles, which closed after earthquake damage and was replaced by the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, the Cathedral Chapel was built west of downtown in 1927. Archbishop John Cantwell originally intended this site to replace old St. Vibiana’s Cathedral, which was already aging by 1927, having been built in 1876, but things turned out differently. The Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana still serves as an active parish.
