If it is an absolute right, than it is a right at the expense of others, if necessary. Why is it that Israel is the only country expected not to take action to secure its borders and right to existence, but rather to sit back and wait for God to hand them the land?
Secure it’s border? Heck I’ll help you do that. It’s a defense from invasion and a right that should be protected.

However expansion of territory, different ballgame. All conquerers take the same stance; in order to defend ourselves we have to take over “x” terrotory.

Did I miss something in the news? DId Israel invade somewhere??

Simon said to him in reply: “We have not seized any foreign land; what we took is not the property of others, but our ancestral heritage which for a time had been unjustly held by our enemies.
Now that we have the opportunity, we are holding on to the heritage of our ancestors.”
Sinse you are firmly placing this back on theologic grounds: Whose heritage of ancestors was it before Judges? Care to give it back to em?

As a christian who believes the Abrahamic covenant has been fulfilled in Christ, the above means nothing to me other than an interesting footnote in biblical history. Good try though.

You keep waffling back and forth between Politics and Theology, should we just call it Theopolitics for accuracy sake?

The only “right” Israel has is to observe its obligations under international law. Some of these breaches probably amount to war crimes.

There is no “right” for the systematic use of torture or brutality.

There is no “right” for the use of collective punishment.

There is no “right” for the use of forced deportations.

There is no “right” for imprisonment without due process.

There is no “right” for the wanton destruction of personal and private property.

All of these breaches have been committed under the aegis of Israel’s “right” to exist.

I could go on and on and on, but I won’t.

I explained that Judaism is not anti Catholic and that Jews do not believe that Catholics are damned if they do not believe as Jews do. I gave you the source and quotation. In reply, using Christian theology, you explained to me that that was not what Jews believed?!!!

You talk about Jews and salvation, again a Christian concept in as much as it is based on the concept of original sin, something totally foreign to Jewish theology. If your refering to Messianic Judaism, that exists but its hardly mainstream and they do not share your vision as to Messianic era.

The Christian preoccupation with Jews: We appear constantly in the Christian “scheme of things”. The belief that at the end of time all the Jews will accept Jesus or the beliefs regarding the return to the land of Israel and the gathering up of the Jews etc.

Now, Please Please Please don’t be hurt or upset but Christians don’t appear in the Jewish “scheme of things” not once, not even an honourable mention, nada, zip nothing.

On ther one hand we’ve got it real easy. We don’t have to convert you, or save your souls or support you or support your enemies.

On the other hand You as non Jews get into the world to come pretty easy by following those 7 Noachide commandments I mentioned. We Jews have to strain a lot more.

That is the true meaning of being the “chosen people” from the Jewish perspective. It doesn’t make you superior, it just brings with it obligations that non Jews are exempt from.

However, again I receive with love and compassion your superior understanding of Judaism and our beliefs. I may have
3,000 years of Judaisim behind me but you have Robert Sungenis.
Thank you, chosen people. This is indeed Zionism and you are indeed a true Zionist.

(This is just the stupid stuff they teach at University, I like your explanation better that antisemitism and all the terrible things done to the Jews by Christians over the past two millenium is a result of kicking someone out of synagogue during the first century of the common era after he converted to Christianity - still don’t you think that even Tony Soprano might feel sufficiently revenged).
Almost missed this. I notice you also skipped mentioning a few details there. However my point was completely missed I see. My reply had nothing to do with revenge. In fact I addressed:

Mirror mirror on the wall…

However your anti-catholic colors are showing loud and clear. One couldn’t help but notice the anti-semitism card tossed out again. It’s called projection.

Apparently, after the diatribe against ecatholics earlier in the post, revenge is however ever at the forefront of your mind.
Find the closest mirror or as Jesus said:

Mt 7:3: Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
4: Or how can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye?
5: You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
