… Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, … 😉
True… we’ve just decided monogamy is the best way possible to carry marriage out - aside from celibacy and holy orders, which are a higher calling.

Although the right of a man to have more than one wife makes more sense than two men or two women marrying.

I have to read “Angels in America” (an expressionist play about homosexuality) for my theatre class. Do you know how irritating this is?

It is stunning to witness the signs of collapse of our civilization happening to quickly. The evening news over the weekend in the San Francisco area reported shootings on Market Street and the decadent revelry of the so called “pride” weekend in another part of town. My grandparents who experienced immigration and the great depression would feel so betrayed if they could witness all that they hoped for and all that they worked so hard to provide for their descendants (education, faith etc.) come to such a wretched, impoverished state. I am sure they would not be alone among their peers!
Instead of “heading for the hills” in some way, or bemoaning all this, I suggest that constant prayer and intercession is vital for all of us who remain faithful by the grace of God. We have a reason for our hope!

Meh. good for them.:coffeeread:

/Weddings can be fun, but what troubles me more is what will happen when the two queens turn into two bridezillas, oh the chaos.
//Catholic but have lots of Gay relatives, so I am happy for them in this moment

If we are strong in our faith, then we must believe that those who are confronting God with their challenge of immorality, will never win.

Much of what is happening today is a result of believing we are in charge. Even the faithful have been guilty of this.

It might take a while, and it will most definitely get ugly, but the faithful will prevail I’m sure.

Polygamy is not and was not part of the Jewish religion. God forbade it in the Old Testament, but of course, some guys went ahead and sinned it anyway. And they were punished.

Abraham only ever had one wife. He committed adultery with his wife’s maid.
Isaac was only ever married to Rebekah.

It is kind of interesting: Polygamy in the Old Testament?

My 17-year-old had to go see The Vagina Monologues for his A-level Drama class.

He was disgusted and his mother was very irritated.

Very True.

The basis of “The Art of War” by Sun Tzu, says to win the battle (war) before you go into battle. A primary method of this is to “Destroy the Moral Fabric” of the enemy, by sending in spies and controlling the dissemination of information to the public.

This is the only way I can make any sense of this “Homosexual agenda”. How in the world can something like this take the forefront of the public, when we have wars on our borders, a collapsing economy, and abortion running rampant. It makes absolutely no sense to have less then 1% of the population taking a primary front in the public eye. None.

That is unless it is a purposeful agenda to “Destroy the moral fabric” of our nation. This is the only way I can make any sense of this nonsense at all.

It matters not, if this is an agenda by the communists, or the devil, it only matters that it is happening right before our eyes.

And this country is succombing to it.

I know… I have often wondered about this, too. For one thing, the homosexualists were very organised.

It does seem bizarre beyond belief that there are so many serious injustices and atrocities going on in the world, and yet the homosexualists have managed to get the attention.
Look at the recent UN homosexual rights resolution while in the last few weeks we’ve seen Christians under attack around the world.

Drop the word Marriage from ALL Civil unions INCLUDING hetero. Save the term for a Church recognized union, let Gays and straights be civilly joined as “Legal Civil Domestic Partners”…seriously, Catholics dont use th eterm divorce but cinrcumvent it by calling it an annullment…as if they never stood before a priest…yeah, right…its divorce.

Besides, Catholics dont recognize non church unions anyway so who cares. If this is what will legally allow gays to pass on the wills, pension, SS, end of life decisions then I am for it.
If marriage can be between any two people who love each other, then why can’t I marry my mother, or my brother, or my sister? We don’t have to have children. Who’s to say what is wrong anymore? Anyone should be allowed to get married now, I mean if it’s really just about the benefits. What if my mother needs benefits, she is all alone, so I can just marry her. I LOVE my mother so I should be able to marry her. I have the right to marry anyone I want as long as they are 18.

Exactly, but Moderate Catholic was saying that “marriage” SHOULD be only between a man and a woman - not because the state says so, but because the CHURCH says so - because “marriage” is really only a word that religious folks can use in its proper context (like Heaven, Hell, damnation, worship, etc).

Marriage is, in hers and mine eyes, not a state term. The state has no power to “marry” people in the religious sense.

That Sun Tzu was a real genius man in logistics. Maybe we should study him in formal education - then we could learn how to successfully counter this immoral nonsense with tact, reason, and Truth.

I see…after going back and reading Moderate Catholic’s post again, it’s much clearer.
Thanks.😉

Do you care that it saddens and angers God that homosexuals have taken a Sacrament that goes all the way back to Genesis and turned it into a Satanic ritual?

I agree with you, in a way. I think the contention is between the sacrament in Catholic and non-Catholic religions we all call “marriage” and the governmental benefits and recognition given out that they call “marriage”. I think it is high time we defined “marriage” not as a union between a man and a woman, but as a union between a man, a woman, and God. In other words, “marriage” should stop being a secular term IMHO. It was not one to being with.

Now as for the benefit of seeing your loved one in the hospital or to enact his/her final will and testament or any of that jazz, no Scripture verse or section of the Catechism says marriage entails all of those benefits the State grants us. Marriage, among the religious, is for the sake of bonding forever in love, and procreation, and raising of one’s posterity to know God and do all things good for Him.

I think “civil union” is an appropriate term for all legal unions that have the benefits all couples want, gay or straight. I don’t support homosexual adoption, and I wonder if perhaps the State should keep its grubby hands out of that affair as much as it should sacramental marriage.

But other benefits that the State currently grants to heterosexual couples - mainly the ones dealing with health, death, and insurance. These I think can be granted by the state - to married couples, to gay couples, to friends, to siblings…

But marriage? The state, as a secular body, has no sacred ability to bond man and woman together. State marriage licenses should be abolished, or renamed and possibly amended to remove some “benefits”. The state should keep its greasy fingers out of the issue of adoption. (And health insurance and other things, as well - not that that has anything to do with the topic at hand.)

Let adoption be a private matter. Let marriage be a sacred matter. Let the state grant some legal benefits that do not entail procreation, nor possibly subsidy (as current marriage does). And let them call it ANYTHING but marriage.
The problem with being a Catholic and supporting certain rights like benefits and insurance etc is that it gives off the notion that “its ok to be gay” or that you support those relationships, even if you dont. If you enable them in one area, you basically support the idea in its entirety.

The Rhode Island House of Representatives passed a bill to recognize civil unions for same-sex couples by a vote of 62-11 on May 26. The measure is viewed by many as a compromise by legislators unable to secure the votes needed to legalize same-sex “marriage.” The bill moves on to the Rhode Island Senate for consideration.

The state’s governor, Lincoln Chafee, supports same-sex “marriage” and is likely to sign the bill if passed by the Senate.

Four of six New England states allow same-sex “marriage,” with the exception of Rhode Island and Maine. (Maine briefly legalized same-sex “marriage” in 2009, but it was overturned by voter referendum.) Same-sex “marriage” bills have been introduced in the Rhode Island Legislature every year since 1997. Passage looked likely earlier this year after Chafee assumed office, but opponents have stalled the effort, hence the substitution of the civil-unions bill.
Lets hope Bishop Tobin will show a little more resolve than the New York Bishops.
Over half of the residents of Rhode Island are Catholic, and many have chosen to listen to the voice of their bishop, Thomas Tobin, 63, an outspoken opponent of same-sex “marriage.”

Give liberals an inch and they’ll take a mile. This idea accelerated into high gear a couple of years ago when the Supreme Court decided sodomy is a right.

The words Sodomy is a right never happened in the supreme court, people have a right to do what they want in their homes. Get a grip.
