I always prefer an independent investigation. Anyone within a company can be biased and overlook things they shouldn’t…even innocently! It needs someone with no skin in the game…especially if they start realizing the allegations are true. Are they then going to be more motivated or less to dig deep, to hurt their profession and paycheck? There’s a trust issue with all internal investigations and it always leaves suspicion in its wake.

BBC already picked it up. This seems to be pretty credible. And if so this is beyond the pale. It needs to be tracked down. Who is doing it, who told them to do, was this part of a larger program nationwide? And if so those in charge need to be taken to task and held accountable from top to bottom.

Has there been some development in the past few hours? Seems to me will still only have someone making a claim.
No other evidence has come out yet.
Why would this be “pretty credible”?

I do not know if it is credible, which is sort of a slippery, relative word. It is too early to know, meaning it is also too early to speak of changes.

LaSalle Corrections is an established developer and operator of correctional centers throughout the States of Louisiana, Texas and Georgia. Since 1997 LaSalle has been providing corrections industry solutions to law enforcement agencies

So, I assume they bid on a contract. This company has been in business for a relatively long time, 1997. That’s under 4 different presidents. It will be interesting, if there is some irresponsible conduct here, as to who hired them first?

Looks like they even run or serve some function for “normal” jails. Fort Worth, etc.

And then, do you pass the buck, say this was a medical doctor who did this, not LaSalle, not ICE.

One facility in Georgia, the Irwin County Detention Center hold 1200. Are these just immigrants? Or prisoners too? Lots to find out here.

Am I the only one who wonders why such a horrendous crime would not be mentioned until page 18 of the statement (after a section about how medical personnel were not nice to the detainees)?

Read the article, it’s one doctor that supports one ice facility.

I hope he loses his license and spends time behind bars, along with any DHS staff that were complicit in his money scheme

If the whistleblower’s story turns out to be true, would you be outraged by it?
Do you think the left will descend upon this whistleblower like they did the salon owner who told the truth about Pelosi?
No, it’ll be the ‘right’ that will descend upon this nurse and have already done so. #34

How quickly we forget the last 4 years of Trump either paying off or sacking numerous whistleblowers.
I haven’t forgotten. Are you talking about the political operatives that were working with Schiff and others using lies to stage a coup?

Not me.The issue is presented on pages 1 and 2 (Introduction) , immediately ,and developed on pages 18 to 20.

I just provided a shortcut for those who would prefer not to read it all.

It’s wedged in between covid related issues. I think that something this horrific would be the first item listed, and in its own paragraph to ensure that it receives the attention required.

That could be attributed to writing skills. A sense of audience as well. Or that they decide to present facts first and suspicions then. Or that the atmosphere presented prior to this issue makes the claims better understood in a disorganized and unhealthy context and so that is how they introduced the suspicions. What is more evident first and then wedging in ( as you say)this topic. There may or may not be a deliberate intent in how the complaint is framed.
Whether anything here is true or not, that is left to be investigated.Analyzing writing skills in this letter would take a bit more time than I am personally interested in devoting. The press picked this suspicion in particular .The letter involves many claims.
I agree though that this concern merits its own paragraph or even a separate complaint. But then I don’t know either the style of this organization personally.
In any case, this group has filed a complaint with many items to be investigated in situ

The nurse, Dawn Wooten , was employed at the Irwin County Detention Center (ICDC) in Georgia, which is operated by LaSalle Corrections, a private prison company. The complaint was filed with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by advocacy groups Project South, Georgia Detention Watch, Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights, and South Georgia Immigrant Support Network.

Multiple women came forward to tell Project South about what they perceived to be the inordinate rate at which women in ICDC were subjected to hysterectomies – a surgical operation in which all or part of the uterus is removed. Additionally, many of the immigrant women who underwent the procedure were reportedly “confused” when asked to explain why they had the surgery, with one detainee likening their treatment to prisoners in concentration camps.
Any thing privately run and is funded by the Government is nearly always bad news.
