In Missouri, two hair stylists who tested positive for COVID-19 after working in close contact with 140 clients and six coworkers. Local health officials feared it would be the start of a major outbreak.

But it wasn’t.

The reason? Employees and patrons at the Great Clips salon were required to wear masks, health officials said.

“The result appears to be one of the clearest real-world examples of the ability of masks to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus,” the Washington Post wrote this month. Local health officials are [studying the details of the Springfield, Missouri, incident, including what types of face coverings were used and what other precautions were taken.

Didnt the WHO recently announce that the asymptomatic are actually much less likely to transmit than previously thought, mask or no mask?

There was a misunderstanding.

There is asymptomatic and then there is pre-symptomatic.

The asympotamatic will never get symptoms of the disease so they are the ones who won’t spread the disease.

Then there are the pre-symptomatic that will not display any symptoms for some time but will get them later on. They can spread the infection.

The trick is distinguishing between the two.

More sensible would be take precautions no matter what.

“But I don’t wanna wear a mask!! What is this, Soviet Russia?!”

Even the Russians at the height of their communist state they wouldn’t have been as tyrannical.

“We need you to rebuild the economy, endure strict rationing, and cross the ocean to fight the Nazis.”

Americans of the 1940s: Got it! (rolls up sleeves, makes genuine sacrifices for the greater good, endures real hardship and danger)

“We need you to wear a piece of fabric over your face while you’re picking up frozen pizza at Costco.”

Americans of 2020: (tears, wailing, dramatic meltdowns on YouTube)

Well, what do you expect, with a tyrannical fascist Maoist communist liberal media bus driver like that?

You gotta put those dramatic meltdown on social media.

It’s the trendy thing to do.

(I’m being sarcastic, people that freak out at wearing masks are absurd)
My wife is very hesitant to wear one. She is very claustrophobic.

I told her if she brings that crap home and I get infected and die, I will haunt her until she dies of fright.

She has become more receptive to wearing a mask for my sake. Although she is probably more scared of the curse I rendered. 🤣

Then you choose not to get a professional cut.
I bought a Wahl clipper months ago and have been cutting my own hair. I might never go back to a shop.

It’s actually kinda recreation or entertainment. I cut my hair every two or three weeks. Try something different each time, in terms of technique. Always good to learn a new skill.

I used mine a week ago as well, did the job!.

Hard part for me is my neck.

Ok

Neither will the “pre-symptomatic.” Until…
Then there are the pre-symptomatic that will not display any symptoms for some time but will get them later on.
At which point they are neither asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic. It is at that point…
They can spread the infection.
No kidding. So…
The trick is distinguishing between the two.
Not a trick, there is no difference between the two. Once the person develops symptoms he/she will have legitimate reason to suspect illness, at which point protective measures are highly advisable.
More sensible would be take precautions no matter what.
Have at it.

Problem is these measures are only effective if everyone does it. “Wear a mask if you want to, but I’m exercising my freedoms in this Publix today!” is a recipe for further outbreak.

So, the take away from this should not be that the virus isn’t a threat, but, rather, that masks work.
