Since it was an organization that was suppose to help disadvantaged boys, the odds are that the boys may have come from families with only single parents. There may have been very little parental involvement involved in these boys lives, or their fathers may be long gone. A single mother might have thought this was a great opportunity for a male authority figure to be an influence on their son. The advice is given even here on CAF to seek out adult mentors of the opposite sex when that parental gender influence is missing from the family. These parents probably thought they were doing the right thing.

Someone that molestes children has a psychological disorder that prevents them from developing the capacity to have an adult sexual orientation. Their victims can be male or female, its the age NOT the gender they prefer in most cases. Someone that claims to be hetersexual can just as easily be a predator as someone that people think is homosexual.
