St. Louis…hmmmm…only a short train ride away!
Sorry I am only female in houston.

It is just as hard being a single catholic women. I have dated me who aren’t catholic and they respect the chaste issue but the relationships always start to tumble when I realize that God isn’t as pervelant in their life as i want/wish it to be in mine.

What i mean is i like to go to bible study on wednesday night and tuesday nights i like to go to daily mass with my young adult group and most of my friends are catholic and so we might get into a discussion over dinner about whether what the pope said was truely ex-cathra or not. I do not push my religion on to them but I try to included God in my life. Yes i fail everyday because i am a sinner but I try to do better, I want to learn more about him, i want to please him and I desire him more than anyone else. If i feel that a guy has no desire to persure or learn more about his being a child of God then i know he is not for me. I want a man who is faithful. Who will push me in my relationship with God and will walk with me on my journey just as i will support him on his own journey.

My only answer is to get lots of catholic friends because even if you don’t hook up with them then maybe they have a friend that you might meet who is your match. It’s happened to me. i had two guy friends and 2 girl friends who I introduced to each other and now both couples are getting ready to walk down the isle. Come to Houston- i’ll hook you up!

Perhaps you haven’t found that Catholic girl who is “on fire” for God because you haven’t hit her timeslot at Eucharistic Adoration, you haven’t joined her in prayer outside the abortion clinic, you haven’t attended the Rosary group in your parish.

Just some food for thought.
Yes. The best way to find the most flaming “on fire” Catholic is to do the stuff that such people do. Daily mass, eucharistic adoration, rosaries, prayer vigils outside abortion clinics, and so on. Join a ministry at your parish, if you haven’t already. Go to pro-life marches, Catholic conferences, retreats, etc. Heck, even volunteer to organize any of the above. It doesn’t have to be at your parish, you could get involved with other Catholic parishes in your area, if your parish is smaller in size. Even in places like my home state of California, where the kind of “serious” catholic you describe tends to be difficult to find, this can be a very useful solution.

Also, keep in mind that God may be keeping you single right now because he has something else for you to do at this particular time.

Anyway, patience and involvement worked for my husband, that’s how he met me! 🙂

Met my current girlfriend in RCIA class, I think I’m just blessed.

Andrew
I attend adult education classes (not RCIA, which is separate)at OLOA in San Antonio, am a 23 year old male, have never been accepted as a date, but have been asked maybe once or twice in my life to consider a vocation to the priesthood----what am I to do? I see myself more as a married man with a secular occupation than as a priest—I don’t belong to Knights of Columbus or anything else, and I hardly attend Eucharistic Adoration, but am in the process of possibly being an altar server because I believe very firmly in the real resence of the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord in the most Holy Eucharist, though I’ll admit that sometimes my life doesn’t look that way.

There aren’t that many 20-something year olds attending adult education, let alone women attending the same.

Could it be that I am refusing the will of God? Could I be called to a vocation I do not really wish to serve, if you know what I mean?

Sometimes, okay, often, I wish I had a girlfriend.

There probably are places where young, vibrant Catholics like yourself hangout. You just have to find them.

Absent that, I hate to say it, but the Lord may also be calling you to patiently wait until the others catch up to you in a few years.

Do what I have been doing, just stay involved in the activities at your church which inspire your heart.

This will either lead you to your future wife, or maybe to a different vocation (deacon, brother, priest).

I don’t think you’re refusing the Will of God as much as you are simply discerning His Will.

And if it makes you feel any better, in retrospect, my last 10 years of celibacy since my divorce and annullment has allowed me to:
  • experience a crash course on Catholic Apologetics
  • be tempted by evil beyond all imagination
  • share time with people of other Christian faiths
  • take studies for the diaconate
  • witness my Roman diocese falling into a heterodox dive
  • find the Eastern Catholic Church
  • and much, much, more
But during that time, I did not meet one single Catholic woman that I was attracted to that was faithful to the Church.
And that was what my thread was originally all about.

LOL

But don’t you think I’m BE-UUUUTEE-FUL, Frank?

Come back, you big strong fireman, you!

😛
^^^My Lord!

Do you see what I have to put up with while trying to locate a faithful Catholic woman?

(running away in absolute terror to hide on fire engine…)

I was afraid that the future looked something like that…as I am working with my attorney on the final settlement for my divorce. Scary, yet I’m pretty sure that is what faith is all about.

You’ve got it all right, and I am sorry that everyone else around you just doesn’t have it figured out. Your example is an inspiring one though.

Fireman Frank,

I don’t think the Catholic dating sites are for everyone. You implied that you prefer a local gal and that is OK.
If it is not your thing, then you’ll just need to wait till God reveals His pick for you. And He may, in his time.

But in the mean time, might I suggest an attidude adjustment on your part? To imply that there are no sinlge devout Catholic woman is silly. Just that none have been revealed to you - doesn’t mean they don’t exsist.

Because you have this idea stuck in your head, you may be conveying this mindset in your actions, body language and conversations. Woman/people may pick up on this and may not be responding to you (keeping in mind that acquaintances can be great resources leading to single friends).

Maybe they are sensing a self-righteousness in you - “I pray the rosary daily…hmmm do you?”, type attitude.

Just a thought. I don’t mean this in a bad way- it’s just a suggestion. Might not be what you want to hear but may need to hear.

Maybe God is waiting for a slight change on your end till he feels you are ready to accept someone of His choice.

God bless in your search - but often it’s not those around us in need of some changes - it often starts with us.

Don’t seem to be many around. Very few actually, where I live.

Catholic Single’s web sites (I’ve tried them all) seem to be fulled with people who aren’t really that concerned about finding a potential soul mate.

Just another place to go for another forum.

And in a Christian Single’s Group that I’ve attended over the years, I’ve met denominational and non-denominational Christian women who are truly on fire with God and the Bible.

I’ve found their company quite refreshing.

Closest thing to a “real” Catholic that I’ve found thus far.

Ironic, isn’t it …

But of course, there’s still the issues of them not understanding the Eucharist, Confession, etc.

What’s a serious Catholic man to do?
I know one who lives in the Houston area…

You’re soon to be available TOOOOO???

since my divorce and annullment
Maybe there is a group of Catholics who are divorced but have an annulment that you could look into…they have the added benefit of understanding what it is like to go through a divorce, so you would be on “equal footing” in that regard…maybe when Dulcissima’s annulment comes through…

Are you sure you didn’t go to South???😃 😃 😃

And to think I was going to invite you to our St. Gabriel Possenti Day outing!!!

Be afraid of nothing!

Trust Jesus, beseech His Blessed Mother for help, and take one day at a time.

One day at a time …

What truly hurts is when other “catholics” boldly tell me to my face why they deny key aspects of Church Teaching. I think God is showing me (myself a sinner) what He’s having to deal with.

As far as my example being an “inspiring one”, if you saw me on one of the hundreds of nights that I spent on my knees crying to (but not cursing) God, well, perhaps you wouldn’t think me such an inspiration.

LOL

The saints dulcissima, the saints.

I think I’ve wore them out on behalf of my requests!

Sorry Faustina, Joan of Arc, and Pio …:o
