Like it or not, the way it was done certainly didn’t do the country any good. Fact.
;To those who wish to Quarterback: On January 23rd, WHO stated that it was too early to declare an international health emergency. This was after Beijing, a couple of days before, had showed up in Wuhan with an epidemiologist; information coming out of Wuhan had been censored, denial had been made that person to person transfer was even possible, and little real information was coming out about the extent of the problem.
On January 24, two cases were identified in the US.
On January 25, at the beginning of the Lunar New Year, Xi J(name removed by moderator)ing lead a toast, with absolutely no mention of the chaos that was occurring in Wuhan and several other cities.
On January 31 a travel restriction was put on fro travel from China.
On February 5, three experts were called before a house sub committee; including Dr. Jennifer Bouey, Chair of China Policy at the Rand Corporation, and Dr, Jennifer Nuzzo, Senior Scholar at John Hopkins Center For Health Security; they testified that travel restrictions were not necessary and likely to have little impact.
It appears that the Communist Party of China has lied, and continues to lie about the actual impact of the virus in China; which should come as no surprise to anyone considering that they control information flow somewhere between strictly and extremely strictly. Their estimate of under 4,000 deaths has been challenged by Radio Free Asia, who estimates closer to 40,000 deaths; observation have been made of large numbers of urns showing up at the crematoriums and those operating constantly.
In short, we had information that a virus of debatable danger was involved, with little real information as to how bad it really was; and information from the World Health Organization that was hedging the severity.
