A little too disheartening

Yep, that is what I said. That is based on the numbers from the CDC, Johns Hopkins, WHO, you name it.

Are you suggesting the those organizations are somehow deliberately trying to mislead Americans? They are reporting based on information given to them.
What I’ve seen you do is essentially reject every other source offered.
Can’t really say I have rejected every other source offered.

Is Johns Hopkins deliberately misleading Americans?

No.

Is China?

Absolutely. They lie to everyone.

But the point is that we acted extremely slow to this threat and the numbers are reflecting that.
I am going to agree that New York, and Florida, were slow to act. It was not particularly helpful that Bill de Blasio was saying that the virus was not that contagious, and that people should get out and about; the Spring Break on the beaches in Florida didn’t help matters in the least.

Comparing different cultures (e.g. South Korea) to the US starts off with unequal reactions to local/country requests/demands concerning health responses. Korea has done pretty close to a fantastic response to the threat.

New York in particular show an obliviousness to danger (and we could likely throw Nancy Pelosi’s comments into the same category).

Whether we want to ascribe lack of information (as in de Balsio and Pelosi) for the laissze faire response to the danger, or the middle of the impeachment process as a distraction from the seriousness, or Trump Derangement Syndrome, both are Democratic leaders who put out a message “Oh this is no big deal”.

Or we can blame Trump for not being borderline hysterical “The sky is falling!” publicly. There was little that the Federal Government could do to make people shelter in place; there are certainly legal arguments that even the States do not have some of the authority they have exercised.

In short, our attitude of independence has its pluses; but when it comes to responding to a pandemic, it has seriously negative consequences. And the "social distancing (I am trying to be polite) between our two political parties has done no favors to getting this virus under control.

Oregon did a bit of a hesitation waltz in getting a response headed in the right direction, but we appear to have been spared any massive infection rate - and that in spite of being a seriously liberal bent in politics.

And so it goes.

The new turn is how much intrusiveness people will put up with concerning tracking, which is eminently capable of assisting us in preventing a rebound once we have leveled off in the rate of infections. It also raises hackles about Big Brother.

It wasn’t actually clear that such was intended. I suspect assumptions were made and things started to head south from there.

LOL I have a container of bacon grease in my freezer. IDK what I’m going to do with it, but it’s there.
Make soap! 🧼
My grandmother, mom and my aunts made their own soap. Mom told me how they had ration coupons. Since 11 people were in the family, they got more coupons than other people.

Do you deny that the sentence included the word “reported”? What else needed to be said? Understanding is as much the responsibility of the reader as the writer, in my opinion.

I also had old parents and so did my husband so we were way more in tune with stuff like the Depression and WWII than some of our peers
Yes, same here. The Depression almost seems like the day before yesterday!

After WWII, there were shortages of everything. I remember, when I was a kid, my father saying what people were saying right after the War: Use it up. Wear it out. Make it do—or do without.

Why ask me something when you know the answer?

If farron believed he was misquoted he could have said so. He didn’t. He clearly conflated the 2.

The two what were synonymous.

Reported and actual cases. No, I was basing my information on several reliable sources, and what they were reporting.

You on the other hand were stating that the numbers weren’t correct because some other sources said they estimated what numbers were. I am pretty certain when it comes to global pandemics radio free asia and american thinker don’t necessarily carry the same credibility as the CDC, WHO, John’s Hopkins or any number of folks who actually know about pandemics.

The only person who is misinterpreting what is being put out there was, um, not me, I will leave it at that.

BTW, estimates and models put out by the current administration show up to 240k people dying of the virus. Should we start using that estimate or go off of what is being reported by reputable sources.

Just one final note. China doesn’t have the market on lying or putting out false information. Might they do it more than many other nations, yea. Does the US also do it, you betcha.

Why ask me something when you know the answer?
The question was whether you denied it. Again, understanding is as much on the reader as the writer. I don’t understand why you insist on doing this. You clearly made an error, even if you weren’t called on it previously or by someone else. Enough of this; muting thread.

For the Jewish people, as a whole, terrible as all of this is, it is mere child’s play! And Passover this year, though quite different, is more meaningful than ever.

Clearly, you failed to read that in most every post I made regarding this I used the word “reporting” or “reported”.

Until you started to derail the thread with quackadoodle estimates from nonstandard sources, then I did say that no one really knows the exact numbers, and never will. But never did I revert to simply relying on “estimates” as you have.

Now I must finish some tax returns, and work on getting some “free” money for folks who seem to love our Uncle Sam at the moment.

Sorry, revisionist history - you used the term synonymous.

We’ll agree to disagree.

Something I find helpful. I watch our State Governor’s daily update live. That is where my news comes from. Other states and countries, I pray for them, however, those things do not impact my day to day life.
