Let’s consider the evidence.

The letter is not all that well-written. It is not something I would expect from anyone with a job at the White House.

It is better than anything Trump could have written, and he has a job there (supposedly)

There is nothing about the letter which would lead one to think it is real.

Other than the fact that the New York Times says it is real.

Not really. You choose to believe a known NYT anti-trump journalist that wants to sell his column.

Until it is shown to be false, I choose to take them at their word. I don’t think the NYT operates in such a way that one journalist would be allowed to run an op ed like this without some oversight. You would have to convict an entire department of fabrication.

I will need proof that it is real and not just a fabrication by the reporter or the anonymous traitor. The same way I require proof that Pope Francis knew about Mccarrick instead of just believeing what one person has claimed without proof. That is the problem anyone can make a charge but one has to prove it or it is just an accusation meant to cause a character assassination!

Spews to much crap from his mouth and should probably calm down the rhetoric. but you really can’t argue with his wins… The fact he is about to get another judge on the bench thrills me to no end. My gut is telling me that this letter is meant to affect the midterms and nothing more. WHo ever it is can’t stand to watch the country pulled back from the black hole of liberal corruption and have the country move back towards prosperity and an individuals independence.

Well as I am a Canadian, I have no dog in the hunt concerning what happens within US borders. Manifestly however, he has been a train wreck for relations with US allies, and that does concern me.

Yep. Being married to a Canadian, it’s kind of a pain that US-Canadian relations are, well, kind of falling apart right now. It’s bad enough this is happening out in the world – I don’t need it at home, too.

What a ridiculous assumption. Voting in Trump Stopped HRC from voting in another activist judge that would continue to erode constitutional norms. The correct type of Judge s on the supreme court is way more important than who you have as a president for 4 or 8 years. The next prez that comes along can demo;ish everything Trump is doing just like he did Obama’s. The US President in my opinon is one of the weakest politicians in the world. He can do nothing without congress and the senate. Ex orders quickly fold when an opposing prez comes in. HIs greatest power is to veto.

IYou need to realize though that it is all Bluster. I doubt very much that Trump is going to scrap the NAFTA agreement. He will lose to much political capitol. He is trying to force Trudeau into getting rid of the dispute resolution mech. Which he won’t It is the only thing that protects Canada from the heavy hitters in US. such as softwood lumber and cattle. Trudeau will also not budge on the dairy s their whole industry will collapse if he does. NAFTA will survive Trump!

Yes we did! Trump considers himself the worlds greatest negotiator and will try to squeeze out every advantage for his side. CHapter 19 was the one major sticking point when the FTA was first signed in by PM Mulroney. He would not sign without it and it has proven to be a thorn in many of the US/Can trade disputes. Canada has not lost any of the disbutes so far because they have been in the right! IF NAFTA fails it will be because of this!

No, I have nothing of which to be ashamed.

You want my thoughts on all this, stated as clearly as possible? OK, here goes:

It’s obvious from my posting history that I don’t think the election of Donald Trump as president is good for our country. That said, he was legitimately elected (in accordance with our somewhat peculiar method of electing our president), and he is the president.

As far as I know, he has not committed an impeachable offense. So he remains, and should remain, the president, barring compelling evidence of an impeachable offense.

As to this op-ed piece in the Times, I am confident that the Times pulled out all the stops in confirming the identity of the source. There’s too much at stake for them to do otherwise.

That said, I think the honorable thing to do for the anonymous author of the piece, if he or she felt that this administration was a disaster for our country, would have been to resign in protest. I thought the same of Kim Davis (remember her?) a few years ago. Then he or she would have had a public platform from which to speak. And, in my opinion, more credibility.
