The pudendal nerve is one of the last to emerge from the end of the spinal cord, and takes a path that leaves it open to damage in several ways - one is damage to the tail bone/fused area of the end of the spine. Another is childbirth, as the nerve curves under the pelvic bone and comes up in a position that puts it between a rock and a hard place - between the pelvic bone and the baby’s head.
