The cognitive dissonance astounds me. Claiming that Gosnell was an outlier, a renegade and thus MORE abortion clinics should be opened is only saying it’s fine to hack, stab, or dismember babies as long as the clinic is clean and the instruments of death are sterilized first.
 
Dear Lord, please give those jury members wisdom, discernment, right thinking, and courage! I don’t want it to be a hung jury!

Speculation on some show said there could be a hang up about one of the murder charges, something about that charge, and that is taking time. Maybe there are so many charges, they can’t arrive at a quick decision.

I’ve been gone and haven’t kept up with this thread. Does anyone know how many are women? I shudder to think of the possible bias, although I know the attorneys do everything they can to unearth it beforehand. Nonetheless, this is such a deep issue and personal prejudice can come into play even if subtle and not fully recognized as such. Surely everyone will remember this is a murder trial!

Praying that Mother Mary intercede for justice.

I believe seven women and five men. Do not know the racial mix although the racial aspects of the trial have been brought up. The defense of course claimed that Gosnell was a neighborhood kid who grew up and is now serving his neighbors…only because he was so incompetent, he couldn’t get patients where he was not a familiar name and face.

This must be so difficult for the jury, simply the number of counts, the particular level of proof for each count is just overwhelming along with the grim nature of the case.

What is WRONG with Pennsylvania? Between the Sandusky scandal and Gosnell, it seems like there is a hideous underground of evil being perpetuated under the nose of the state officials. This woman, former director of an abortion clinic who has a 100% NARAL rating is running for governor?

I have to wonder at a state that elected Rick Santorum (but tossed him out) that also supports the kind of state officials who allow such evil acts to continue. Anyone have knowledge of Pennsylvania’s conscious?

The first story was detailed in the Fox special on Gosnell. It was HORRIFYING. The abortions were done with an instrument that would have put medieval torture chambers to shame. It looked like some kind of roto-rooter with blades all around.

I am starting to believe that Gosnell was not just incompentent, he was a sadist. So many former patients spoke of his abusive attitude, failure to control pain (in the women as well as the victims), and even restraint when the woman did not want the abortion.

As to the second comment, I am not surprised. I suspect this will be on the murder cases because we have been conditioned to believe beyond reasonable doubt really means beyond all doubt. Since I believe there are more than two murder charges, certainly there will be a conviction on at least some of them.

I am hopeful that we will get the verdict today.

Jurors in the murder trial of a longtime Philadelphia abortion provider said Monday that they were divided on two of the more than 200 counts in the case, but the judge asked them to try again to reach a unanimous verdict.

It’s not clear which two counts have divided jurors. Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Minehart asked the panel to try to reach a unanimous verdict. The jury has been weighing the more than 200 counts in the case for 10 days.

Judges can eventually take a partial verdict and leave prosecutors to decide whether to retry the unresolved counts.
