An older baby most likely would survive an induction (basically what Gosnell would do) Vaginal birth can benefit preemies because it can stimulate the lungs.
I am convinced that the 28 week baby was alive and alert. My preemie was crying, and he had a near perfect apgar score as well. He was just over 28 weeks.

Note bolded above, all the more compelling evidence that many of the later term babies WERE born alive. Hopefully the Prosecution will make note of this.

I wonder if Gosnell used BPA before it was banned? Once this procedure was outlawed, since his bread and butter was the late term abortion other clinics would not perform, he had to find another method to kill the babies.

Preemies can survive at the ages they were aborted by Gosnell. Our clinic used to operate a Pediatric Cardiac Surgery unit and I would read Op Notes about babies younger than these babies, who not only were premature but had serious cardiac issues. The main surgeon said the babies heart was the size of a small nut. Yet they survived not only the birth but subsequent surgery. Gosnell is clearly a mass murderer. I pity the jury having to listen to this for days.

Digoxin is a medicine used to treat heart conditions, acting by slowing down atrial responses and fibrilliation. Administered at high doses, it will stop a baby’s heart, and was the first part of the method that is now known as partial-birth abortion. Administered incorrectly the digoxin may stop the heart of the mother, ie if the IV is used in the mother, instead of the baby.

Digoxin also costs money. If Gosnell didn’t have any in his clinic, his brutal action upon fetuses could be a cost-saving approach. Digoxin is a choice method by some serial killers (including one who murdered between 4 and 40 infants in a hospital in 1981) because it’s not commonly looked-for in autopsies.

It is for this very reason that all mothers in delivery (except emergencies) are encouraged to spend time in labor, even if a C-section is already planned. The birth process has significant benefits to the infant.

I don’t even want to think about this, but it’s likely the case. Humans are remarkably resilient, from conception onward. I vividly remember playing with my daughters while they were in the womb, touching their hands, singing to them, shining a light on mommy’s tummy (my oldest did somersaults in response). To a baby girl or baby boy isn’t alive until it takes a breath, and only when mommy says so, is simply monstruous.

The two most interesting pieces from the last article:
  1. “The jury asked to see medical charts for three patients seen by O’Neill in 2007 and 2009 who were charged, or whose insurance companies were billed, for medical services provided by O’Neill, who was not a licensed physician.” So they’re looking at O’Neill first.
  2. “Gosnell is also charged with one count of third-degree murder in the 2009 death of abortion patient Karnamaya Mongar, 41, of Virginia, who prosecutors allege was overdosed on Demerol by Gosnell’s untrained staff. Gosnell also faces 24 counts of performing abortions past Pennsylvania’s 24-week gestational age, 227 courts of performing abortions without giving the woman the mandated 24-hour waiting period and other counts including racketeering and operating a “corrupt organization.””
Full list of charges is lengthy enough to put him out of business and behind bars for the rest of his natural life.

Yes. I cannot believe how many people can be so blind. It absolutely breaks my heart, over and over again, and I am no novice to the abortion industry. How can this be happening…The end of the video where they state that the State Health Department did not investigate ANY of these events, including TWO deaths of women! :eek: Just sickening.

White women were seen in his Wifes office and it was clean and tidy and he thought whites would be likely to report him than blacks.

Further where are the Jessie Jackson’s and the Al Sharpton’s and the others who scream racism when there isn’t any (Trayvon Martin, Duke LaCrosse, etc) but when minority women are clearly preyed upon, particularly those from immigrant communities, crickets chirp.

This case represents so many of the Left’s strawmen bursting into flames. The theory that if abortion is legal, women won’t go to the back alley. If contraception is freely available there will be no more unintended pregnancies. The only reason women seek abortion is because they have no alternatives. The “war on women” the disdain for the poor and minorities they claim is done by evil rich and white Republicans when in fact with this as with other instances (gun violence) blacks preying upon blacks is the reality.

No wonder the MSM won’t cover it. They met the enemy and he is already within their walls.

scipio I wondered as well but I think there are SO MANY charges that the jury is just carefully weighing each one and it is taking time. I think there is no doubt he is guilty, but with the kind of legal hairsplitting going on, the jury has to be sure there is proof beyond reasonable doubt with respect to the felony charges. There are a lot of lesser charges about paperwork missing, documentation missing, prescriptions written, lack of license and proper supervisoin, etc where the standard of proof isn’t as high as for the murder charges. I think there were over 200 charges to be considered.

Frankly I bet the jury can’t wait to get out of there and take a long hot shower. The stink of this case will linger.

Wait until Gosnell meets his Judge and Jury in the next world. Anyone question the verdict?
 
Should Governor Ridge be held legally responsible as well?

It was during his administration that refused to inspect or investigate the complaints about Gosnell and his facility. Perhaps if the state did what they were supposed to do then perhaps people wouldn’t have died?

Sadly we cannot hold government officials legally liable for blunders while in office, no matter how egregious. I am dismayed that this was allowed to occur. I do not know much about former Gov Ridge other than he was the first Sec of Homeland Security (a position that seems pointless and its current resident a model of incompetence). Clearly he was more concerned about politics than his constituants’ health. He is known to be pro-choice…blech! I find it curious that I haven’t heard any statement from Ridge. Whether he is trying to duck responsibility or has some lame excuse, he is certainly tarnshed with the stink of this case.

But as TampaDave noted, there are other Judges who have a far higher standard than we humans. I can rest easier knowing that is the case.

See, I know it’s probably wrong of me, but I don’t want to pay one dime for Gosnell’s protection within the prison population. He took so many lives in horrendous ways. How many babies died in pain because of this evil being? How many women’s lives were ruined? He’s a MONSTER.

I think there has to be accountability for the lack of oversight, at least on some level. The reality is that he may have been under legal pressure to abandon inspections (as many states were) because inspections are perceived as an infringement on the right to abortion.

It will be interesting to see what exactly brought the several governors to abandon this oversight.

Many among them are sinners attempting to repent. I think that makes them more sensitive to a moral situation. They also have considerable time on their hands.

The MSM is not helping us keep track of all this.
