Wouldn’t it be dandy if the pro abortion politicians were pulled aside before mass started and told to refrane from coming forward?

What message will this send to the faithful when they see these politicians receive communion and basically tell the world that there is no visible consequence for outright dissention? Why is it so hard to confront these politicians with the TRUTH and hand down the consequence?

It will be difficult to get that angry the next time the rainbow- sahers receive the Holy Eucharist when Pelosi, Boxer, and company will receive televised Communion. The pro-abort politicians have done inestimable evil in funding, protecting, and promoting abortion. When the largest provider of abortion - Planned Parenthood - receives heavy taxpayer support is it any wonder the average Catholic yawns when that rare sermon is preached?

My question is this::confused: Does the pope look like a hypocrite when he gives communion to those politicians that brazenly and openly go against the church’s teachings? After all, he is to stand up to the sins of the world, not just push them under the rug. Besides, how many good Catholics can’t take communion because of issues within the church?😦

I didn’t even know the nasty little troll was Catholic. Cirtainly doesn’t vote like she is one…

See: Abortion-rights lawmakers to receive Communion

Let us pray for the courage of the Holy Father, and the obediance of the bishops and priests under his charge, that he and they demonstrate unwavering fidelity to the Sanctity of the Blessed Sacrament and prevents this sacrilige and scandal from taking place.

Peace in Christ,

You have to zoom in on this image. Look at Holy Father’s face! And Condy Rice.

This is literally a picture of hypocricy and absurdity. It should be what pops up when you google the words ‘confused politician’.

I tried to insert the picture itself but Im a dummy when it comes to computers can someone please do that. Then we can all come up with what we think the caption should read…like…

“Please Don’t Bite”

IMHO If they were denied communion it would go a long way toward ending abortion. A public denouncement by the Holy Father would carry alot of weight.

The article said they intended to receive communion. Let us wait and see. Also will the EMs or priests that participate know who is whom?

With some 300 Eucharistic Ministers and priests, the chances that the individual Pelosi approaches will know who she is and have the intestinal fortitude to refuse to give her communion is in doubt. It will be interesting to see what happens if she approaches the Pope for communion.

She can always head toward the line forming in front of Archbishop Wuerl, who has said publicly that he would not discipline or direct priests to deny communion to pro-abortion Catholic politician Nancy Pelosi.

Despite her staunch stands in favour of abortion, embryonic stem cell research and same-sex ‘marriage’ Pelosi went on a publicity stunt in early January to portray herself as an Italian Catholic mother.

Archbishop Werul is following in the footsteps of his predecessor. In 2004, as the US Bishops were discussing the matter of Communion for pro-abortion politicians, Pelosi told the media that she would continue to take Holy Communion despite her pro-abortion position. She went so far as to misrepresent the Catholic faith as supporting her pro-abortion stance. “I believe that my position on choice is one that is consistent with my Catholic upbringing, which said that every person has a free will and has the responsibility to live their lives in a way that they would have to account for in the end,” she said.

Responding in the media, Cardinal McCarrick who was heading up the bishops’ task force on the communion question, said, “I have not gotten to the stage where I’m comfortable in denying the Eucharist.” In fact, Cardinal McCarrick was on something of a campaign to conceal Rome’s insistence that pro-abortion politicians be denied Holy Communion.

McCarrick even spoken of Pelosi in his retirement. In comments to the Catholic News Service, Cardinal McCarrick said he considered Pelosi, “a very thoughtful and committed defender of human rights.”

For believing Catholics, however, the position of the Catholic Church on the matter is defined in canon law. Following the Scriptural principle found in 1 Corinthians 11:27, the Church’s canon law states at canon 915 that those “who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin, are not to be admitted to holy communion.”

In this article, many pro-abortion lawmakers talk about how they will receive communion at today’s Mass.

breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9037ITO1&show_article=1

The article is obviously on their side and contains no rebuttals of their position.

Also of note is that it is the pro-abortion people saying they will receive, not any official in the Church.

From a liturgical standpoint, they can be denied communion because of their public statements (and the actual power to do something about it) supporting murder.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens

It is interesting that the title says that they will receive communion, there is nothing in the article to indicate that they will in fact not be turned away.

I hope they are.

If they are it will send a strong message that this is a more important issue than any posturing about “compassion and hope”.

If they are not I think it will tarnish this Pope’s heretofore superb reputation.

The only thing we can do is pray that their eyes are opened, pray for the 300+ ministers of communion that they will know.

Unless the Pope during his homily singles out these people and tells them not to come, they will come up anyways and receive the Lord. There’s no way the 300 ministers of communion will know who all these people are. The shame will not be on the pope, he is not a babysitter, but rather the consequences will be on the recipients.

The only thing to be done is to pray that in the event they do receive the Lord he opens their eyes and renews their faith.

Watching it live right now from uccsb papal visit web site…let’s wait and see

I am one of those good Catholics who does not receive the Eucharist. I returned to the church after 20 years and was not married in the church, therefore, until I am, I cannot partake in any of the sacraments. My husband has been a road block to our being blessed and I continue to pray and wait patiently for God to soften his heart.

It is hard sometimes not to be bitter when I know that many of those who present themselves to receive the Eucharist are not in a state of grace. But, it is not my place to judge who is and who isn’t.

I do think it fairly obvious from their support of abortion that these politicians are a public scandal and should not go, but we do not have a communion police. What I will say is that I will be so disappointed if they receive from the pope. What a bitter pill to swallow for those of us working so hard to end the abortion nightmare that is such a stain on this nation’s soul.

I know exactly what you mean. I cannot take communion either until my annullment is final. I believe there are Catholics who abuse this sacred and holy sacrament, and at times it does make me upset. But that is between them and God. In a way it gives me more strength and encouragement to do what I believe is right.

I;ve got CNN and direct UCCSB feed going. According to CNN there are 46,000 people there, and 1300 priests to minister communion to them. So that’s about 50 per priest, and only 50 lucky hand picked people get to receive from the pope (again according to CNN).

When i was in my RCIA class i would go up for a blessing and pray for everyone who is receiving. It’s something i still do today. I don’t get upset, they don’t know any better.

But what about people who do know better?
