The will of God is to follow his word; following not only the commandments, but also the Gospels and the example of Jesus. Individually, the will of God is different for each person. Sometimes it is hard for me to know what His will is in detail, but I know w/o doubt when I am not following His will because nothing falls into place and my mind is tortured. Why would I want to do God’s will? Because I have felt His embrace my entire life, in an efflux of intense love every time I receive the Eucharist and abandon myself in the other sacraments. Without Him, I am lost.

What? Wow. I am confused. You know, I work in a legal/business profession, and so I am used to being direct (in a professional way) because if I am not then I could compromise my employer in very serious way… but another aspect of my profession requires scrupulous ethics and honesty.
So, this response here… it is so off the wall. Is it just me who thinks this is off the wall? Was it inappropriate for me to ask that if you judge me, judge righteously and show me how I am doing what you claim?

I just laugh when a poster boast in their profession. Does your God given lot in life make you more truthful? The other day, a non-Catholic Christian posted that he was a religious history teacher, implying that his profession validated his theological positions and insight. Have you not heard that God chooses the foolish things in the world to shame the wise and privlidged in this world? I am just a rotten dog who was shown mercy for the purpose to proclaim the glory of God to the world. God chooses the foolish things in the world so no man can boast before God.

What difference does it make? I wanted to be a Neuropsychologist, which is a person who evaluates brain function by doing tests. That’s what I went to school for, but because of different life circumstances I used my undergraduate education to go into my field, which was a deep disappointment to me.
I am not going to post in public what I do. It’s a very specific profession in a highly specialized field that combines business and the law. I negotiate contracts. It requires a bachelor’s degree, though I have a graduate education, too. I make about $75,000 a year, which is decent, but definitely not in the realm of “boastful salary”.
What is there to boast about? I’ve had lots of professional disappointments that have caused me to draw near the Lord in prayer and trust Him and have faith.
The only reason I mentioned that was because I was sincerely wondering if I were being too direct, and explaining I am used to being direct and logical.

I would say we make a living by "our daily bread" alone. We know that Christ is indeed "the bread of life" and so we are encouraged daily to partake of Him in the Eucharist in every mass:)

sigh unfortuantely I offer my prayers from home most days except the occasional eucharistic adoration and each holy sunday mass…But I would love to partake of Him daily! In the Catholic Church we celebrate His sacrifice of the mass every day! That means at every moment in throughout the world, Christ is present. THAT is what He meant by “truly, I am with you until the end of the age.”

I think shining shoes is great. There’s a blind man who sets up shop in my building who does that. He’s a great person; also a Christian. He also has a smile on his face and is happy, talking about the Lord.
I’ve actually read the Bible, but thanks for pointing out the verse. Maybe you should read it and then tell us what your point is?

It’s nice to meet you too Angels Unaware. We are finally introduced in a Christ-like manner. All Christians…regardless of our Christian affiliations struggle in this body with the remaining flesh which wants to boast before God and man. We are told to mortify the remaining flesh in all of us in Romans 8, and do we press on in our journey upwards, and how do we fight the good fight of faith. The world pull hard with all Christians. The point is that we all know in part, and must seek Jesus Christ daily through this transformation process. I’m not talking about pataking in the Eucharist everyday either. So, how to we press on and why as Christians? What should be our driving motivation and purpose as redeemed sinners who have been adopted into the family of God? I think my answer is found in 1 Cor 10:31.
