im sure she sees herself as a good person even if you dont.
I’m sure that Hitler saw himself as a good person too. Sometimes what other people think does count. Ann alienates and offends a lot of people with her “humor.”

She did get a pie in her face–it was in Arizona.
oh ok i didnt realize that you guys had gotten her already. you seem to keep up with her pretty well, moreso that even me.

i hope you realize how rediculous you sound busting out the “hitler” card.

you are actually just as sarcastic as she is and she doesnt throw food at people she disagrees with. she proves them wrong in debate…a novel approach i know.

how about you take the point that she made and then prove it wrong! all you got is Hitler references and pies, i dont get it.

What is the sense of humor? Where’s the joke? What’s the satire?

Satire is what Stephen Colbert does; what is the comedy in Ann Coulter saying outrageous things? All I see is an attempt to hide cruel, vicious, mean-spirited statements behind a facade of “haha, I’m joking, wink-wink”.

ok you dont get it, thats fine. everyone isnt required to like her or to understand her.

Actually, the pies, though thrown at her, missed their mark. Maybe next time…

I’m not comparing her to Hitler–I am replying to your statement that *she probably thinks she’s a good person, even if others don’t. *My statement reflects the fact that what others think may have some merit. In the case of Hilter (albeit, an extreme example), whatever was goin’ on in his head was not commensurate with the reality of the rest of the populace.

first of all the same could be said about anyone and secondly you have no idea what was going on in hitlers head! he killed himself afterall, maybe he wasnt as proud of himself as you think.

**Right on!!! **Yeah, where **is **the joke??? She **is **mean-spirited.

Same thing could be said about anyone, but when you have a public figure with influence, a few other rules apply.

this makes no sense…it applies to anyone public figure or not. based on your logic we could compare Obama to Hitler, im sure Obama see himself as a good person yet i know many others that dont agree with him. the reference to hitler was pointless.

this was fun but i have to run now…but i probably should reread How To Talk To Liberals (but only if you must)!

hey you gotta give credit where credit is due…that’s pretty funny!

however i really dont think its racist to point out that Russians are typically white or that islamic terrorists are insane savages…she is merely pointing out two facts.

by the way, which one of those two statements do you find offensive?
Both. Why is the whiteness of Russians relevant to anything? That’s what’s racist.

And does she really think that Stalin was any saner than bin Laden?

Furthermore, what does she mean exactly by the word “savage”?

Edwin

this is NOT a valid argument at all.

Christians have a moral obligation to be involved in politics - defined as Trying to Make the World (or Community) a Better Place…

Christians need to be MORE involved than they are in the business of running the state…

If they had been in the past maybe we wouldn’t have some of our more egregious laws (and lack thereof)…
Did you catch the fact that this was one of three possibilities I laid out?

My point is that if we are not to implement basic Christian values in public life, we shouldn’t be involved at all.

I was responding to the argument that governments aren’t bound by the principles of the Sermon on the Mount. And again, my point is that any such government is not one in which Christians can participate, unless we are free to try to change its policies in a healthier direction.

Edwin

and my posts tell you everything about me, everything God himself knows about me??
I know they don’t. That’s my point. I am not making judgments about what kind of person you are offline. That is what you misunderstand when I say such things as “you are defending wickedness.” That doesn’t mean that you are a wicked person. It isn’t my business to speculate on why you are saying wicked things. But I can and will make moral judgments about the nature of the *opinions *you defend.
ad hominem
You made an accusation against me. I asked you to support it. How is my asking you to support your accusation “ad hominem” on my part?

You are defending Ms. Coulter’s wicked remark that we should forcibly convert Muslims. That is the wickedness you are defending. Nothing ad hominem about this remark. It’s a description of your posts.

I repeat: what wickedness am I defending?

Edwin

Is the Episcopal Church and Lutheran Church immoral for giving legitimacy to same sex marriage and going further to ordain practicing homosexuals. I think it is
I agree. I don’t know why you think this is a relevant issue, by the way.
I make a point and you continually evade the original premise and then off you go with your self serving out of context issues
This is odd.

The thread is about Ann Coulter and reasons people might have for supporting or opposing her.

A number of us have given some good reasons for opposing her strongly.

You and her other defenders have consistently refused to engage these indefensible remarks by her, and have instead tried your hardest to move the thread away from a discussion of these remarks.

Now you bring up the completely irrelevant issue of my denomination’s stance on homosexuality (with which I should note that my own diocese disagrees).

And *I *am the one bringing up things out of context?
I agree with the poster who stated we are at war and will suffer in the not to distant future if we do not answer the threats NOW.
And I am making the point that our response to “threats” must be governed by Christian morality, which includes such things as making darn sure we don’t kill innocent people, and not treating even wicked and murderous people in a manner that denies their dignity as human beings created in God’s image and as potential brothers and sisters in Christ.

How is that out of context or evasive?
Why do I feel like I am arguing with pre WW2 Neville Chamberlain???:banghead:
Because you assume that any attempt to put moral restraints on our response to “threats” constitutes “appeasement” and thus can be rejected out of hand?

Edwin

i cant put those words in to context because i dont know where they come from. I was going to ask the person who is quoting that to give me the source information for those quotes because i would actually like to read them in their entirety.

Can we get the source for those quotes please. i dont doubt that she said it i just want to read them in context.

can you provide the source information for the quotes you gave us about the White Russians and the savage terrorists? i know she probably said that but i would like to read them in context.
