Another Proof against Sola Scriptura?

Mat 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Mat 4:4 But (**Jesus) answered and said, It is written, **Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Mat 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Mat 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

It is unfortunate that you cannot see how blinded you are by the trees. I mean no disrespect to you, but unless you can see The Christ’s teaching in it’s unity and fullness, you will not understand. Quoting chapter and verse will not do it. The Pharasees could quote scripture all day too. It gained them nothing. Jesus would at once quote scripture and then in the next breath berate the teachers for not understanding it. That is why we rely on Jesus and the Church tracable directly to him.
The Bible is a good tool, but it is not the be all and end all of faith Nor was it intended to be by those who assembled it.

Yes indeed, let us follow the WORD FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD. And that word is written on our hearts.

James, notice how they conveniently don’t place what Jesus “said” orally in bold letters?

So, how is it that Jesus corrected Satan?

By “orally” telling him what was written.

Satan didn’t “read” the Scripture.

Jesus “told” him the Scripture.

So, if “oral tradition” is wrong,
then Jesus was wrong in telling Satan the scripture orally.
Since Jesus cannot be wrong,
then those who teach that oral tradition is wrong,
are the ones who are wrong.

And again…Sola Scriptura isn’t in The Bible. It is a “tradition” of a minority of Christians which are a sect that sprang out of post 16th century Europe.

I believe that only about 10% of Christian believe in that tradition.

Was Jesus then teaching heresy when He taught The Disciples to do what they were told by their religious leaders?

This isn’t “written” teaching, but is litrally Jesus telling them to “observe” their verbal teachings.

“The scribes and Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice” (Matt. 23:2-3).

If oral traditions are forbidden, then don’t go to church anymore because that Pastor on that pulpit is literally teaching you Scripture orally.

Just read the bible for yourself.

Don’t listen to oral teachings of Pastors.

The Bible says, " ….carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so. (Acts 17:10-12)

Paul didn’t expect the people to take his word for it.

Paul teaches us:

2 Thessalonians 2:15
“Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.”

Is The Word of God lieing when it teaches us that we are to keep the traditions that were given to us by word (verbally)?

You claim that we only need to believe what is written in The Holy Bible, right?

So, if it’s not written in The Holy Bible, then it’s not to be believed (Sola Scriptura).

Now, which “version” of the hundreds of different versions is the true version?

They all can’t be right especially since some are incomplete,
some (like the King James Versions and the Lutheran Versions) had words added to them.

By the way…you never got back to me (if you did, I missed it)…how do you feel now that you know that Martin Luther purposely added word to the protestant bible that were never there?

Did The Holy Spirit fail to keep us from being misled?

Or was Martin Luther correct in editing The Word of God?
 
Jesus obviously had great power (afterall, being God it is expected) and used it often to heal people, feed people and raise them from the dead, etc.

But he showed us something remarkable in the verses I cited.

Satan was defeated by merely quoting Scriptures.
 
Proof that Scripture Alone is insufficient…if it was, then Jesus wouldn’t tell The Apostles that whoever didn’t listen to their oral teachings, would be rejection of Him and of God.

If the Scriptures Alone were all they needed,
then The Apostles wouldn’t have to “explain” to them what the Scriptures mean.

“He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me”

(Luke 10:16)

Notice, Jesus said “hears”, not “reads”.

You seem to keep missing that Jesus “quoted” the Scriptures.

Therefore, Jesus had to “explain” it to Satan.

He didn’t present it to Him and allow The Holy Spirit to guide him.

He “taught” him what it meant.

If The Scripture was sufficient, all Jesus would’ve had to do was give Satan a bible and The Holy Spirit would’ve taken over from there.

So, how do you feel about Paul telling us to keep the traditions The Apostles taught us verbally?

Was Jesus wrong in telling us to do what the Pharisees told them to do in matters of Religion because of their authority?

All truth and knowledge is NOT contained within the Bible.

But I am not bound under pain of death to believe anything that cannot be proven in Scriptures.

I think this is what we call shooting ourselves in the foot…

Proof that scripture alone wasn’t sufficient.

First Paul taught, then verbally instructed those who heard his teaching (which of course was truthful) to confirm his teaching with The Word of God.

See?

First, oral tradition THEN Scriptural confirmation.

Not “scripture alone”.

So then you have to admit that truth lies outside of Scripture and that if we limit ourselves to Scripture alone, we automatically exclude that exterior “truth and knowledge” then, right?

Prove “air”.

It’s not in the Bible doctrinally, but it exists.

Prove “The Holy Bible”.

It is “not” in The Bible, but it does exist.

You’re right. You dont’ “have to” believe without having it proven to you scripturally…that would take 'faith".
