The San Francisco 49ers pledged $500,000 Thursday to secure a suppressor ban and other gun controls.

i haven’t watched the nfl since they took the knee. the nfi doesn’t allow free speech. they fine players for writing on their shoes, so why is disrespecting the vet ok? now this poliitical move to try and get back into america’s graces? i think they just dug the hole a little deeper.

ymmv

Concerning the NFL’s political stance, I believe they are wrong. I also do not think kneeling for the national anthem or the flag is a smart decision and is disrespectful.

With that being said, the NFL is a private organization and can do as they like. A private organization has the ability to limit its employees’ speech.

It’s an issue of contractual VS constitutional rights. Constitutional rights, such as the freedom of speech, do not apply in an employee-business setting. The employees are bound to the contractual rights of the NFL, and therefore, are not guaranteed freedom of speech.

In old days kneeling was the proper respect for someone’s anthem was to kneel. But since some claim disrespect for the flag and anthem is an issue then please take a look at his picture. There are actually 6 people in this photo that are showing actual respect for the Anthem and Flag. The four that are showing respect are Kapernick and his friend next to him and they guy in the black shirt next to Kapernick on the right and the girl on the very far right.

The six from Left to Right:
Guy in the Red shirt picking at his ear.
Guy in black shirt checking out the cheerleaders.
Guy in #29 eating a hotdog.
Guy in red shirt behind Kapernick and Friend.
The Camera Man way in back in red shirt behind Kapernick.
And most likely the Camera Man taking this shot.

And during the Political Stunt by the Vice President. This General was just standing without his hand on his chest. Since he was in Uniform, he should have been saluting. And the Goober behind the VP is using his left hand instead of his right. And the woman behind Mrs Pence was doing something else. DISGRACEFUL.

the problem as i see it is the nfl is selective in what it allows.

they have fined players for various actions of free expression.

The NFL has fined r griffin $10,000 for wearing an unauthorized t-shirt but didn’t fine those wearing i’m with kap t-shirt.

the nfl is making it political. they are anti-vet and now anti-2A. do they know who makes up their base? time to change the sports dial and watch rugby. anyone know if it is available online live?

People employed by private entities have been fired for tweeting the “wrong” thing.

I am a disabled vet. I see no problem with the protest. I understand what they are protesting.

The flag and anthem does not reflect my military service nor the damage that was done to me as a result of my service. It is a red herring argument by racists.

Maybe the NFL should return to the pre 2009 method. The Anthem was performed while the players were still in the locker room.

Oh yeah, absolutely. I believe it was Antonio Brown of the Steelers who wanted to wear a 9/11 memorial on his cleats and he was denied.

The arbitrary enforcement of rules by the NFL is concerning

I would have asked those kneeling, if they were kneeling in prayer for our country.
Which probably would have made them mad, and then they would have stopped.
But that’s just me being sarcastic.

I don’t watch the NFL for similar reasons, however, this is not a free speech issue. It’s a private organization and they can have whatever rules they want. Free speech does not apply. In your own house, you can demand that people respect your rules. You can forbid profanity in your house. That is their house.

now anti-2A
Not sure how it is against the Second Amendment. Look at what they pledged and tell me what part of it rubs you the wrong way:
pledging to advocate for common sense legislation to ban “bump stocks” and any other mechanism that allows for the conversion of a semi-automatic weapon into an automatic weapon; armor-piercing bullets; and gun silencers.
Are you thinking you have a right to a fully-automatic weapon, armor-piercing bullets, or a silencer? Explain. How is any of that 2A?

In your opinion, which firearms would be protected under the 2nd amendment?

As A Military Veteran I don’t feel disrespected because an American Citizen protests something their government is doing. I served so people can do that. If you don’t want to watch the NFL then that is fine for you to do as a protest, but don’t say they are disrespecting veterans because they protest. I was US Army Active and Reserve From 1984 to 1992. IMHO.

the singing of the anthem was started as a respect for those serving in ww1 . it is a sign of respect for active and military veterans of all races so to say it is racist is ludicrous.

the why he is protesting is a different matter. what is his reason?

ck said “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”"

his reason is that he has no pride in the country.

he has a problem with the police; many do not just people of color. many families of all colors are mourning their loss at the hands of police. he could have spoken out at a press conference against specific locales and probably garnered more support. his game plan wasn’t well thought out.

how can he say the country which was being run by a man of color investigating the police he is allegedly against be oppressing people of color? if mr. o wasn’t doing anything he may have had a point but they were opening cases in quite a few police departments to root out the bad behavior. they were bringing federal civil rights charges where warranted. if what mr. o did wasn’t good enough what is?

the flag represents people of all colors and he is disrespecting us.
