According to her husband, they weren’t divorcing and hadn’t even discussed it.
 
Yes, suicide is a troubling epidemic in the U.S. and worldwide. It is not a mental illness per se but may be attached to psychological disorders, not only depression but anxiety disorders such as panic disorder as well as substance abuse. There is no credible evidence that it runs in families (despite the Hemingway phenomenon) although depression and bipolar disorder have genetic links.

Anthony Bourdain’s sudden death is shocking news, particularly as he was in France filming a new episode for his show. We have little idea what the inner life of people might really be, including its pain and suffering. I greatly enjoyed his show, which was both entertaining and informative, not only about food but about local customs and politics. He will be missed. May his soul rest in peace.
 
You are speculating that they were in the midst of a divorce. There has been no proof of any divorce action on her part or his. What is known is they were separated for 10 months and that he was in their home when she decided to leave this earth. Their daughter was, thankfully, at school when it happened.

Please don’t give in to the rumor mill, Bear. It’s not like you to spread gossip. If it is meant for the public to know the truth of what was behind Kate Spade taking her life and behind Anthony Bourdain taking his life, they will each be revealed at the appropriate time.

For now, let’s remember the joy the creativity of both these talented individuals gave us. Do not let their legacies be marred by a single event in time.

I am not “spreading gossip”. It has been reported by all of the major media - it is not something I just all of a sudden heard on the street. I also wasn’t born yesterday and I see quite a bit of “evidence” here. Looking at evidence is part of my job.

If you want to hide your head in the sand about things that very likely are true, feel free. We see this all the time in politics also.

I have already prayed for this woman’s soul and will be praying more for her and her daughter.

I’m done with this conversation.
 
It doesn’t seem that suspicious to me. He’s never been a beacon of good mental health

I agree it is ultimately a very selfish thing to do and gravely wrong. I wouldn’t say he is despicable for it.

Having money and fame doesn’t make your problems go away. In fact in many ways it can be a curse. A lot of depression is really a spiritual malady. It can even be demonic. A person who rejects the Faith doesn’t have all the weapons he could use to fight it.
 
This man died on the very same Feast Day as your online namesake, and this is all you have to say? The Sacred Heart loves this man just as much as you or me, and you and I are just as much undeserving of His love.
 
His daughter now won’t have a father. She’ll be without him for the rest of her life. He won’t walk her up the aisle at her wedding. He won’t be there for her first boyfriend. He won’t be there when she gets her first job. He won’t be there when she needs him.

He is despicable and I’m calling it like I see it.
