You’re out of line buster. 🤨 You’re definitely not behaving in a manner befitting a Catholic. Go meditate on how Jesus would behave.

I don’t care what he was dealing with but anyone who kills themselves when they are leaving behind children are despicable.
What exactly do you know about mental illness?

The suicidal do not think as a functioning, coherent person does. They honestly believe their children, their families will be better off if they’re not around so they’re not a burden, so that they’re not in the way.

Please watch what you say.

Having money gives you the opportunity to go to the best therapists and can afford you the best healthcare. He could’ve gotten help, but it looks like he gave up
Just stop it. Money doesn’t buy mental health. Clearly.

In the military we have access to completely free, head to toe health care. If we can’t provide it at your home station, we will literally fly you to where it can be obtained from wherever you are in the world. And we have suicides.

It has NOTHING to do with care or access to it.

Stop.

Regardless of your feelings about such a horrible and tragic act, it isn’t good to harbor such ill will for the man. Pray for the repose of his soul. Pray for his family and friends. And learn from this.

The VA doesn’t give you the type of healthcare that Bourdain had access to. And Bourdain didn’t see his friends blown up by roadside bombs. Don’t compare the two
I am not subject to the VA.

I am active duty. On active duty, we have access to free health care. It’s called TRICARE. Look it up. Different pot, different budget, different authorization. Don’t conflate the two.

You have no clue what you’re talking about in that regard.

I don’t know why we are defending someone who killed themselves and left their little daughter all alone FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE

FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE she’ll wonder why her dad didn’t love her enough to stay
BECAUSE HE WAS MENTALLY ILL.

As I said, you have no idea what you’re talking about. Stop it, before you get an otherwise perfectly decent thread shut down.

Ours is not to condemn and judge. God will determine his culpability NOT YOU. I’d advise that you pray for the repose of his soul; however, I’m not sure you believe in that.

stigmatized in today’s society
Not it isn not.
I would disagree. Yes, it is. Very much so, even in 2018.

You do realize that the greatest number of veteran suicides are among people who have never deployed or whom have low numbers of deployments, correct? Obviously you don’t, so go look that one up as well.

Not all the depressed people in the military have seen “those blown up by roadside bombs”.

…said the officer who’s been treated for it herself.

We are still human, SHB. And you still have no idea.

I have a friend who lost her father to suicide. She blamed herself for years. That’s what this little girl is likely to do because of bourdain’s actions. Sorry if you think me focusing on his little daughter isn’t Christian of me
No, what’s unChristian is your condemnation of an ill man.
