Any thoughts on the debates?

Roman fathers also had “choice” whether to kill their born children or not. Japanese Samurai had the “choice” whether to behead a peasant who gave them offense.

In supporting abortion “rights” they’re just as guilty of killing as the Roman fathers and the Samurai, they just have excuses for it. Just as guilty. Some Dems own that, and some don’t.

Trump was (and is) a populist who does not reflect conservative values
If by “conservative values” you mean the extreme laissez-faire positions that some “pure” conservatives hold, then I would agree and am thankful for it.
Now, Trump idolizes Putin and tells the American people that their conversations are none of our business
Trump has imposed a lot more sanctions on Russia than Obama ever did. Liberals are sometimes amusing. On the one hand they’ll tell us that Trump is Putin’s buddy. With the next breath they’ll complain that he is driving Russia to support North Korea with China against the U.S.
Truly not your parents party…
Though they were lifelong Democrats, my parents would not recognize the Dem party of today. They were more like today’s Republicans. The parties have basically switched positions in the time since then. The Repubs are pretty close to the Dem positions of the 1950s and 1960s. The Dems resemble nothing so much as Rockefeller Republicans of yesteryear.

And I was a party worker for years and years myself, and know for a fact that the Dem party of today bears no resemblance to the Dem party of even Bill Clinton’s time in office. The Dem party back then would be called “populist” today, but without the rancor of Dems who said it.

And what does that have to do with being president?
Nothing at all. It could be a plus if a voter wants assurance that a white candidate is absolutely, positively not a bigot. FWIW, De Blasio’s wife once professed to be a lesbian. That would be “points” with some people too. (I am not engaging in gossip or detraction. It’s common knowledge. Google it.)

The Democrats need someone with the bravado and charisma of a Bill Clinton, but that kind of Democrat does not exist anymore.
We shouldn’t be so sure. Someone could crawl out of the woodwork yet. Remember what happened with Obama.

Personally I’d like to see Joe Manchin throw his hat in the ring.

Too bad Hickenlooper is pro abortion, he is the only Dem who is pro capitalism. The rest of them are a hair short of Karl Marx and Che Guevara albeit couching their language in more populist terms. For those who would argue that’s too harsh a comparison, 60 million babies sacrificed over the last 40 years on that altar would disagree.

Kamala Harris dig at Joe Biden as a closet racist or racist sympathizer was off putting but not unexpected. Personally I think she herself is racist.

Williamson - so entertaining and NUTs, to paraphrase “we are not going to beat Trump with plans, we have to have more than plans, you know how he won? He won by saying Make America Great Again!” HUH? OK

Warren - I agree with her on breaking up Google but seriously she’s a testament to Democrat hypocrisy on racism/cultural appropriation. Clearly they’re ok with it , since she’s a front runner. Actions speak louder than words.

Sanders - agree with him on rich oligarchs getting too rich. Disagree with him on reason. His admission to raising tax on middle class will sink him

Biden - most reasonable (along with Gabbard) but wont win primary since radical left will push him out, to help of Trump. Him and Gabbard have best chance beat Trump but radical left wont let them in general, which helps Trump, ironically

Pete - openly gay candidate who evokes Bible and religion, and then evokes hypocrisy? The lack of self awareness is NUCLEAR

Gillibrand - so fake she makes Hillary look sincere and that’s tough. Former Phillip Morris lawyer who is going to stand up to big bad corporations?? You can’t make this up

Booker - why is a former self admitted groper allowed in the race? More Democrat hypocrisy. I thought a mere accusation of sex assault meant you have to quit. Again, actions louder than words

Kamala - great at one liners, poor at substance. Plus I read today at age 30 she got her first big political job from her 60 year old boyfriend corrupt politicans? YUCK. Wait, isn’t that “evil patriarchy”? She benefited from evil patriarchy, so she’s out

Gabbard - the only candidate with half a brain and semi reasonable policy, plus she’s not on the crazy Trump Russia train. SHe’d give Trump a run for his money, but I doubt she’s far left enough for radical left, which is good for Trump.

The other amusing though consistent and underlying Democratic message is that this country is crap, (it’s been their message since I’ve been voting) and Trump beat them at their own game by repackaging that same message (MAGA). A message which I disagree with, America didn’t need to be made great again, it already is a great place to live. As one who travels globally, there is a reason people choose this country in which to emigrate.

One of the problems with this sentiment is where does it stop? To a poor person you are the rich. Second: when we start putting limits on how much someone can make, you are legitimate next target for salary cap. Welcome to communism.

While there have been attempts to imply this country is oligarchal it isn’t true or we wouldn’t have the start ups that have become billionaires: Gates, Jobs, Musk, Zuckerberg to name a few of many who started with nothing. That dream is far from dead for those who pursue them.

FWIW Dems always claim the target is the rich, but that’s to get votes. The reality is the bulk of money is always going to be from the middle and lower classes. It’s simple math it’s the so called 1% that it will come from or the other 350 million people. The Dems and Reps know that there is more money spread over the bulk of the people to tax than they will ever get from the monied.

ACA is not perfect, and we should all hope and pray for an equitable solution to the Sisters’ dispute. It does, however, make affordable insurance available for those who need it, and that is a good thing.
Interesting.

Several of my work associates (I work in a hospital lab) claim that ACA was way too expensive for them. Income for these younger people is around $25/hour, so I don’t think it’s a question of not having the cash.

Why is there a discrepancy in claims about ACA’s affordability?

In case anyone is wondering, my work associates are millennials and absolutely despise Pres. Trump and loved Pres. Obama. Politicis is a taboo subject at work because of the strong emotions. But health care discussion are obviously on the table, and they say that ACA is too expensive.

Also, our hospitals health care benefits are pretty bad. We’ve lost a lot over the 28 years that I’ve worked in this hospital. That’s why the subject came up–I mentioned thinking about switching to ACA, and everyone cried out, IT’s too expensive!!!

??

ACA is expensive unless your income falls under the “cliff” which I believe is around $62-64k. Those with low enough income can qualify for subsidies to offset the high cost. Basically taxpayers are paying the subsidies.
If you make even a dollar over the limit you have to pay the full premium. Even those who get subsidies often have large copays and coinsurance.
I know of several people with well over a million dollars net worth that manage to keep their income low enough to qualify for subsidies. As for myself, my old company has a retiree health plan that I pay full premiums for, but less than ACA.

Yes, the Democrats have gone way to the left, so it appears they will hand Trump a win. Should be a slam dunk win for the Dems, but that’s the Dems of old. 2008 Obama could not win the nomination this year. 1992 Clinton would only be polling ahead of 1996 Clinton.

100% agree

To me it’s not how rich they are, how they got rich

Did they get rich via Crony Capitalism aka Government corruption/favoritism? That’s a problem and is not free market
Gates, Jobs, Musk, Zuckerberg to name a few of many who started with nothing.
Yeah they started w nothing but Facebook and many other tech monopolies enjoy Govt tax benefits conditional on being content neutral forums yet they’re not. Crony Capitalism

Yes, save to say Democrats won’t be repeating Clinton’s famous words: “The era of big government is over”

Thanks! I couldn’t remember the line

Also, “abortions should be safe and rare”

Imagine Biden saying that last night! He’d be chased off the stage w pitchforks

Do you have proof of this or is it wild speculation?

Next, they are all democrats, which means the Dems would be the ones in cahoots with them as oligarchs, which makes sense if what you say is true as left leaning Marxists.

It makes one wonder who is giving their favorite donors all those tax cuts and govt benefits to hide behind.

Please see entire post, I give an example

I must admit it’s a bit ironic seeing a post accusing someone of “wild speculation”
ending with “God Bless”

I didn’t watch the debate but just read in awe, Kamala Harris telling a big whopper about repealing the Trump tax bill on day one. Is she a liar or just clueless? Or a clueless liar?

All I can say is if the Democrats win, which they won’t, it will be the death knell to what’s left of our Constitution.

QUESTION: What will you do day 1 in Office?

BIDEN: Beating Trump has to be first priority
