Any thoughts on the debates?

Gates, Jobs, Musk, Zuckerberg to name a few of many who started with nothing.
I don’t have the figures right now, nor do I recall where I saw it, but I seem to recall reading about Gates being from a fairly well-to-do family. Not Rockefeller wealthy, but at least upper middle income. Can’t say I heard anything similar about the others, but I think I will look it up when time and interest permit.

Are you #@^$^&%ing serious? He really said that?

His first day in office should involve a lobotomy.

QUESTION: What will you do first thing in Office?

WILLIAMSON: I’m going to call New Zealand Prime Minister and tell her ‘no!! Your country is no longer the best one to raise a girl!! America is!!!’

TAKE THAT, NEW ZEALAND!!!

Yes OMG you have to look at it!! Go NBC News YouTube video of debate. It happens at 2:30:30

I just watched it again and here is precise quote

QUESTION : “Vice President Biden your first issue you’ll tackle if elected?”

BIDEN: “Well, people don’t give Obama enough credit on Climate Change but I will say this…the first issue has to be DEFEATING TRUMP”

ROFLMAO

The Democrats are hell bent on fighting him all the way to his grave.

You didn’t offer any proof, you just said there were.

As far as the Peace and God Bless, you do realize that Jesus even prayed for the Pharisees on the cross?

Father forgive them they know not what they do.

1 Pet 3:9 Do not return evil for evil or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing.

Rom 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

Peace and God Bless

Yeah they started w nothing but Facebook and many other tech monopolies enjoy Govt tax benefits conditional on being content neutral forums yet they’re not. Crony Capitalism
You reference the “tech monopolies”. This is a contradiction in terms or a complete misunderstanding of a monopoly. A monopoly has zero competition. These tech companies all compete with each other. Some may have unfair business practices which need to be regulated (Microsoft has had many such suits) but they are still not a monopoly. some are biggger than others, some smaller, each sharing and jockying for marketshare. That is the nature of a free market.

Communism either runs it by government or picks one company to run/support while eliminating all competition as unlawful. That is a monopoly.

I provided a specific example w specific reasoning why an entity is profiting from Crony Capitalism. Youve continuously mischaracterized me so I won’t be continuing this exchange.

Facebook doesn’t have competition. Even Instagram isn’t a direct competitor since doesn’t offer same social network.
Apple doesn’t compete w Facebook , nor does Microsoft.

So you are in fact accusing the Democrats of crony capitalism. (Don’t get me wrong, I think of the two parties the more corrupt is the Democratic party, so on that we agree)

Of course. It takes Govt and Business to commit Crony Capitalism. Yes Dems are worse.

Actually they do: Instagram (which is now owned by facebook) Linkdin, Snapchat, Googles “Alphabet” Twitter are all competitors in the marketplace vying for users and Ad dollars and all social media platforms. They do not have a monopoly. With regard to Apple and Microsoft they are divisions of their companies. they compete head to head with other software companies, Oracle, SAP, Adobe VMware, VRM, HCLtech, firev Intuit, Amadeaus and each other. Apple also has computer, phone and music divisions with which they compete.

None of the companies are monopolies. And each has competition in those areas as can be seen above. What each Sen and Rep does is try to get those companies to their states to create jobs (which in fact they are getting elected on by the people) by offering them tax breaks and benefits (which i also don’t agree the states should be doing).

Peace and God Bless

No, only FB offers all of FB features. Others offer some of FB features (Instagram offers photo sharing, Linedin offers profile/social feed, etc) but none offer all FB features. Hence not competitors.

If i come up with a product I have to announce it first to the world, wait for someone to make exactly the same product with the same functions before I can go to market to be considered not a monopoly? If unique features makes one a monopoly then each tire company, registering a different tread which they promote, is in fact a monopoly. That’s severely stretching what is considered a monopoly. Each of those companies consider the other a competitor even if you don’t.

No not exactly the same product but yes product w same functions/features. Otherwise your logic suggests 7-11 is a competitor of McDonalds since they offer same products (iced soda, hot coffee, etc) as McDonalds, which is absurd. Burger King is a competitor since offers same products (burgers, fries, soda, salads, etc) as McDonalds. There is no Burger King equivalent w Facebook. There is only someone who offers fries, then another company that offers burgers, etc

No not exactly the same product but yes product w same functions/features.
I beg to differ. A monopoly occurs when a consumer has no where else to go for the same product or service and the company has full control of the market and pricing. In the case of Facebook and Google, they are competitors for the advertising dollar. The users of Facebook and Google don’t have to spend a dime for their services.

Facebook enjoys tax benefits? Can I ask for some evidence backing up that claim?

I don’t see any links to anything. I saw this in another thread but the poster was unable to backup his claim (that Facebook pays fewer taxes than they should).
