Anybody Else Here Like Joyce Meyer Too?

I was in the midist of a major emotional breakdown 1.5yrs ago and a believer who backslided for many years i remembered she was at my hometown church back in Singapore preaching and that message for that day was about setbacks in life and how she overcome her emotional problem…blar…blar…i was weeping incessantly when i heard her message and i began to realize God love me despite all my wrong doings…etc…etc…and thus brought me back to church. Although i would not say i am obsess with her preaching, nonetheless she is truly a motivated speaker. A gift she has which God given to her.

No, I was just telling that person I was going to be in their neck of the woods on Sunday to visit family. My bro and mom live in St. Charles, MO. But, I am going to visit my moms episcopal church the following Sunday and they have a woman minister–does that count

I have always found her thoroughly trinitarian and monotheistic.
Perhaps you misunderstood her ??

At any rate, I too have some differences with her,
being that she is not a Catholic and I am a Catholic,
but I thoroughly enjoy her program and bright spirit.

I’m going to break the pattern here I guess. I can’t stand more than a few minutes of Joyce Meyer! I’ve tried several times because I know she is one the current, trendy speakers, but I can’t stomach her or her messages. She always looks angry when she speaks, and I’ve heard her more than once elude to the fact that *‘you too can be as successful as I am if you just have as much faith as I do’.

*Her theology is very superficial. From the - granted - very few times and minutes I’ve watched her, she seems to be 90% motivational speaker (for lack of a better word) and 10% (very thin) theology. I often wonder if she has had any theology training?

Sorry to be so hard on her - but she is one person that can push my buttons for some reason!

I’m actually surprised that so many of you are fans of hers.
She’s a Word-Faith teacher and teaches (like Kenneth Copeland) that Jesus suffered in Hell for our sins as a substitute. In 1991, she published a booklet (The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make) that stated that nobody could be saved unless they believed this. That’s heresy - plain and simple.
I quote:
"There is no hope of anyone going to heaven unless they believe this truth I am presenting. You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus took your place in hell."

The bottom line here people is - she may be a fun speaker but don’t be so easily duped by this kind of charlatan.

I had every tape going…every book she wrote. And it was never a waste of money. I would listen to her and Fr Corapi tapes every day in the car. No matter where I went Joyce and Corapi went.

When I had friends in need, I passed them a cd set to listen to.

I sold everything at a garage sale last year and one lady was thrilled to snag about 30 cd sets and several books. Thought she was gonna do a dance for me.

My sons were sooo sick of the tapes. But I opted for the tapes and books instead of going for therapy. These were very dark years (not depression but just sad years) for me and Joyce gave me hope and strength.

While not a Catholic version- I liked her messages of hope and relying on Jesus.
I no longer listen as the Holy Spirit has moved me elsewhere.

Sorry to be so hard on her - but she is one person that can push my buttons for some reason!

I absolutely hear what you are saying and I also agree. I guess that is why I liked her. I needed motivating. I did not need theology at the time. I needed someone to kick me in the pants and tell me to trust in Jesus - or to pray more. Maybe on days when I could do nothing in prayer cept repeat the simple words, “Jesus I love you”.

I agree she is thin. She does not claim to be an collegiate theologian.

She also has a voice and persona that absolutely can turn people off. She admits that too.

But for some reason, the Holy Spirit felt it necessary for me to listen daily each morning before work and glean what He wanted me to glean.
It worked and that progressed to daily mass and daily adoration in my case.

Praise God and His mysterious ways. BUT Joyce is not for everyone.

My girlfriend loves Joel Olsteen for the reasons I enjoy Joyce. But he grated me in an irritating way. God has made us all individuals and has given us different tools to open our hearts.

He will succeed in bringing us to the truth if we remain open. Even the likes of Joyce and Robert can bring us closer to the Catholic Faith.

I don’t remember any of her theological teachings but i do remember she sometimes points out to things i take for granted and makes me think of them in a different light; she presents general problems, i like this. Other than that, i stick to my Catholic channel.

I believe you happygal. I used to be a real fan of Joyce Meyer and can still appreciate what she brings to the table for those who are down and out. God used her in my life at a time when I really needed to feel connected again. He will use whoever is available to Him to help those around them. Praise God!

And Joyce Meyer really loves the Lord, she really does, and has overcome great emotional obstacles in her life through Christ and His healing power, and she shares that freely.

Now, I do have problems with a lot of her theology. And when growing in spiritual things, we begin to pick up on these problems. But when you are at the very bottom in life and just need something to get you to look up, you have to thank God for someone like Joyce.

I now watch Johnette Benkovich, on EWTN, for a richer, deeper walk, one that gets you through all the phases of the spiritual life, including the suffering that eventually comes our way in some form or another.

Love it! Love it! Love it! So happy to hear how she was used by God to impatct your life.

What is the fruit in JM’s life This should sum it up according to what Christ said.

:twocents: As for my 2 cents, I honestly can testify that she was mightily used in my walk with Jesus. Back in the early 90’s I experienced a wonderful conversion of heart. She played a major part for me in that I would read scripture. I had an unsatiable appetite to read the Bible and to know this God, this Jesus whom I now declare as my Lord and Saviour. I still have such a driving hunger for scripture. I guess you can call me a charismaniac. During my journey into the RCC one of the phrases that caught my attention in the CCC is that God is not bound by the sacraments. Thus, this leads me to believe that He will use whom ever He desires to reach the hearts of His children. This is going to be done in phenomenal ways. We can’t put God in a box. We think we can but we can’t:tsktsk:

I can’t close without quoting from the AMPLIFIED version of the Bible that JM uses.

For the kingdom of God consists of and is based on not talk but power(moral power and excellence of soul). 1 Cor 3:20
