Yeah that was an interesting documentary and not so great ending for Tim. God bless his soul.

I don’t believe in Bears personally. I think they’re a hoax like the moon landing.

That’s beautiful. I would like to go boating there and maybe camping but I don’t know that ecosystem.

I hiked El Camino Santiago Norte in 2016. Los Picos al la izquierda, y el Golfo de Vizcaya a la derecha… That is, I admired the Picos along the way! So amazing. I want to go back. We are hoping to hike from San Sebastian to Lourdes (in a sort of reverse Camino) this spring…

That happened to me once. I was bushwacking to the top of a mountain in Idaho when I spooked a mama bear and her two cubs in a tall bunch of huckleberries. Scared me to death.

I took a group of teenage girls on a 6-mile hike this morning. No firearms required. A group of teenage girls are such chatterboxes that it scares off any wildlife.

I didn’t get much contemplation time.

Don’t forget, though, that God can be found in the distressing disguise of the poor.

In a mysterious way, it is possible, necessary, and important to look for Christ in our neighbor. This is a life long process and requires effort. But you’re right. I understnad where you are coming from, though.

What about Bows and Arrows?

I think you should have let them watch the Hunger Games first to liven things up a bit more. 🙂 Yeah, sometimes I’m not the best influence on kids. I have to hold myself back. 🤔🤣

So true, But Lord! Let us build three tents and let us stay up here awhile!

i started as a kid in the boy scouts decades ago and never stopped. slowed down, but haven’t stopped. i have been on the appalachian trail in several states for day hikes but never had the time for anything more. maybe after i retire…

if you like hiking and/or reading about hiking, this is an excellent site.

http://www.trailjournals.com/

you can follow people hiking different trails. they update them when they can or you can read archives of past hikes

from gator goats 2002 journal
What a wild night in the shelter. This shelter had a tin roof and at about midnight this huge storm came through. Every single one of us sat up and watched it. The lighting was popping everywhere, the thunder roaring and then the hail started. Needless to say we didn’t sleep a whole h*** of a lot.
search it for stumpknocker, he can be entertaining and has various hikes under his belt.

I love going hiking (usually on my own though since I don’t know too many people where I am), and indeed, standing in and around God’s creations is truly marvelous.

Of course the other day I was a bit jolted when I saw some type of wild dog or coyote or hyena prowling not too far from the trail where I was walking on. Later it just walked off into the distance and I just prayed to God for Him to not let any of his other creations eat me while on the trail.

Is this what it looked like? They are extremely dangerous! You definitely had a close call there.
