Anyone like going hiking?

I don’t own a cell phone, or a gun.

Here’s an Arizona Black Rattlesnake I came across in the Wilderness of Rocks in the St. Catalina mountains. We both survived the encounter.

Pretty Snake. I’m surprised you were not freaked out and got the shot. 🙂 Look at those rattles!!

Heaven’s Peak from the Highline trail in Glacier Nat’l Park. Not sure why they call it that.

Beautiful. I’ve never hiked in Arizona, but it’s still an alpine ecosystem in much of the state, so I would like that.

If I were to start rock climbing again, I would like to go to Mt. Lemon. That is near Tuscon, I see.

I know. It was right in the middle of the trail. At first I was surprised to see a king snake at such a high altitude, but then I followed it to one end and saw it’s nasty triangular head and then to the other end where I saw it’s rattles. It didn’t care for me either, last I saw it, it was hightailing it into the bushes.

I guess the area is famous for them.

It’s pretty aesthetic. And they have tons of mountains with names in Glacier, so they had to name it something. 😃

I’m going to Yellowstone in June and am reading up on hiking and the wilderness in general…never hiked a day in my life. Slowly I am becoming more and more unsure.

It’s supposed to be a week long trip…camping in tents…bear encounters are a real possibility. Terrified.

Oh, you’ll have a blast. Make sure you bring plenty warm clothes and good rain gear. That’s a start. Often people don’t bring either. Well, my mom and step dad do this, anyways.

We could give you all sorts of tips, I"m sure.

I hope you go to Grand Teton National Park which is just an hour north or so. Some of the most spectacular mountains in the United Sates. Since I’m a mountain person, I like it over Yellowstone. 🙂

Here’s another shot from another trail on Mt. Lemmon. This trail starts in Ponderosa pine forests and ends up in the Sonoran desert. We walked out in the dark on this one. That’s why the sun looks so pretty.

We had a bear stick it’s head in our tent when we were camping in Yellowstone. A neighbor told us about it, we slept through the whole ordeal. It was in the 60’s. My dad used to scare bears off the picnic tables back then.

Oh wow! I couldn’t imagine how I’d feel if that happened and was awake instead of asleep! 😱

Yes, the mountains are what I’m most excited about! I’ve never seen mountains in person before. Iowa is so flat.

Luckily I’ll be in a group with some pretty smart (practicality wise) people so hopefully they know what they’re doing too 😅

Is it true you can roll a tennis ball from one border of Iowa to the other side?

or a chipmunk. We had the misfortune of camping next to this guy. Such an attitude!

You were trespassing. Only out of his good hearted mercy did he allow you to live.
