It is not a “disorder” in the eyes of the medical world. Your perception of human nature has no bearing on this decision.
A medical decision that was arrived at by a vote at a convention. Perhaps they can vote to make cancer not a disease.
I take it you are speaking from experience and are not just making this stuff up willy-nilly.

Whether you like it or not, God has made some people gay. If you don’t believe me, believe some of the gay people who post on CAF.
Whether SSA is inate is debatable. However engaging in homosexual behavior is always a choice.
He did put naturally and beautifully homosexual people on a world. It’s called “Earth”.
No-he put people in his world and gave them free will. Sometimes we misuse this free will.

Not true actually, and there is absolutely no verifiable scientific evidence that can prove otherwise, completely unlike other genetic defects like sickle cell anemia.

Furthermore, taking someone’s word for something over the Bible and the catechism is not what Christ asks of us.

Finally, as someone who has had homosexual thoughts and sex and struggled with identity issues well meaning persons like yourself who label people as homosexuals, whether they self identify their this way or not, causes them a great deal of damage, just so you know. Therefore, I recommend instead of telling people it is “ok”, and “not your fault” that they are “homosexual” to instead tell them to turn to Christ to heal them. There is absolutely no need to make excuses for any condition we have because Christ is not intimidated by our sins nor condemns us as long as we are allowing Him to improve us.

It’s not the first time you deliberately distort (or should I say outright lie)what really happened back then.

You withhold the historical facts that:
  • there were actually scientific debates
  • there were new studies and data based unlike the previous ones not on inmates and psychiatric clinics patients but on ordinary people.
  • ** opponents of removing homosexuality from DSM failed 3 times scientific debates** because they didn’t present any evidence backing their ridiculous theories
  • ** opponents of removing homosexuality from DSM led by Irving Bieber and Charles Socarides initiated the infamous voting ** procedure when they lost all scientific debates
Doesn’t your God punish for lies? I guess in your “sacred battle” against perfectly healthy people, against science. against Nature itself all means are acceptable.

Just don’t presume that others will trust your lies blindly. It’s easier to brainwash fellow Christian brothers ans sisters who don’t have a clue and are eager to believe anything that would justify their beliefs than people who know facts.

Disgusting.

I urge Christians to read about the facts and the history of APA’s decision detailed in this book
amazon.com/Homosexuality-American-Psychiatry-Politics-Diagnosis/dp/0691028370

Read carefully and pay attention to the details and you’ll see how **estesbob **distorts the facts and lies about what happened.

PS And that’s also a reason why you are loosing this “battle”. When your “reasoning” is based on outright lies and distortion the whole building crumbles into pieces in no time.

(Sexual) Voyeurism is a sexual orientation. Would there be no shame if Tim Cook said he was a Voyeur?

lifesitenews.com/news/sexual-orientation-has-been-defined-to-include-peeping-toms-and-sexual-voye
That article is just silly, and not a very reliable indicator of what sexual orientation is. Voyeurism is not a “sexual orientation”. It is a fetish. Sexual orientation refers to the spectrum of sexual attraction ranging from fully same-sex to fully opposite-sex attraction. Most folks are somewhere on that spectrum, with most being nearer the opposite-sex attraction end of the spectrum.

Both a homosexual or a heterosexual may engage in fetishistic behaviour. Fetishes are more common in men, of either orientation. But one thing a fetish is not, is a “sexual orientation”. A more reliable medical/psychological source of information would be much better than an article on that website. I know from my own experience in areas in which I have technical competencies that journalists are very reliable sources of misinformation, and journalists with a bias, no matter how orthodox the bias, are often even worse sources of misinformation.

With all due respect their Catholic Churches clearly establishes one sexual orientation, heterosexual, everything is is considered a disorder, such as homosexuality.

Furthermore, you should know there is absolutely no definitive scientific evidence that homosexuality is biological, like sickle cell anemia, on the contrary the evidence clearly points to a psychological disorder. What happens is that because of the extreme bias of in the press an article comes out in the NYT referencing a “supposed link”, but of course the hundreds if not thousands of supposed biological links regarding homosexuality have not been confirmed. This can be independently verified of course.

With all due respect their Catholic Churches clearly establishes one sexual orientation, heterosexual, everything is is considered a disorder, such as homosexuality.
The Church recognizes that certain people have deep-seated sexual attractions to persons of the same sex. She does not “establish” one sexual orientation at all; one is ordered, one is disordered. She does establish a standard applicable to all, chastity. What being chaste means, depends on one’s personal circumstances, but in short the only morally acceptable context for sexual relations is sexual intercourse within marriage (and I mean between a man and a woman, “same-sex marriage” being an oxymoron).

That same-sex attraction is disordered does not take away from the fact that it is an orientation, and it is recognized as such by the Church. Specifically, the Church says this about homosexuality:
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

While it is quite obvious that the etiology of homosexuality is unclear and unproved, there is sufficient circumstantial evidence to suggest that it is not chosen, but inherent. Whether the defect is biological or psychological is fairly immaterial; in either case so far it is clear that the condition is extremely difficult to “cure” with our current knowledge. Moreover because there is not yet a known biological basis does not mean there never will be a discovery that there is such a basis. It was once thought that schizophrenia was possession by demons, but we now know better.

If it is indeed the case that it is inherent and not chosen, then holding up someone to the standard of being heterosexual when he or she is in fact homosexual, would be most cruel and at the same level of suggesting that since the standard is a perfectly functioning heart, someone with a congenital heart defect is somehow to blame for the defect. With the heart defect a cure may be possible though, but with homosexuality a cure is extremely unlikely. We should thus give homosexuals the benefit of the doubt that their circumstances are unchangeable. We should offer support to those who want to struggle on the road to chastity, and be equally charitable to those who have not yet come to view chastity as the best road forward for them.

I’m not sure exactly how being gay is a gift of G-d, but I think it’s good that Tim Cook is proud of his sexual proclivity since so many gay people, young and old, are ashamed and live their lives in fear and self-loathing even today. He serves as a role model for other gays that they too can achieve whatever they want in a straight society and world that, for the most part, still frowns upon homosexual orientation, if not worse.

You can find nowhere in the Catechism that speaks of homosexuality as an orientation. If you want to interpret this to your benefit, by all means do it. Nonetheless, however you want to split hairs homosexuality is considered a psychological sexual disorder like bestiality and pedophilia.

Unfortunately, embracing homosexuality will never reduce feelings of guilt nor the tendency towards depression, as studies have shown.

Simply put we can claim anything and everything under the sun is true but God makes the rules so when we fabricate something false, like that homosexuality is innate and good, our conscience will convict us 24/7.

Of course people can combat this to a degree with extreme fellowship, as seen in the homosexual community, that must re-affirm their false precepts on an hourly basis to suppress their constant doubt and depression. What a miserable existence indeed!

Yes, I have heard this too from more than one gay person. I think most of us probably have.

The homosexual orientation is not chosen freely: both Catholicism and Judaism believe it is not a choice, although same-sex behavior is. Some of those gay people who have feelings of shame and self-loathing have them due to their same-sex attraction or orientation, and not necessarily due to same-sex behavior.

**It is false logic to assume that because because people do not choose their homosexual desires they must be innate/biological. ** In fact there are no studies that can do anything but show a suggested link between homosexuality and a biological cause, unlike real genetic science.

BTW, I had SSA and guess what I don’t have them anymore. In fact studies show that SSA is temporary for most people. In my case Jesus Christ healed me. I recommend you know Him.

Innate or biological does not necessarily mean permanent. However, which “studies show that SSA is temporary for most people”? And did you choose your SSA?

Why should this be so hard to believe?? Psychology shows us just how fragile are the minds if children with low self esteem and our society labels many as homosexual who are unfortunately deemed as such by bullies and well meaning persons. We are truly screwed up, thats for sure.

mygenes.co.nz/summary.htm

*The huge amount of change in sexual orientation is one of the clearest evidences that homosexuality is not hard-wired by genes or anything in the biological environment.

Large studies now show that:

For adults:
Code:
About half of those with exclusive SSA move towards heterosexuality over a lifetime. Put another way, 3% of the practising heterosexual population (both men and women) claim to have once been either bisexual or homosexual.
These changes are not therapeutically induced, but happen “naturally” in life, some very quickly.
Most changes in sexual orientation are towards exclusive heterosexuality.
Numbers of people who have changed towards exclusive OSA are greater than current numbers of bisexuals and exclusive SSA people combined. In other words, “Ex-gays outnumber actual gays.”
Exclusive OSA is 17 times as stable as exclusive SSA for men, and 30 times as stable as exclusive SSA for women. (Women move about more in their sexual orientation than men.)
For adolescents:
Code:
Most teenagers will change from SSA. In fact, in the 16 to 17 year age group, 98% will move from homosexuality and bisexuality towards heterosexuality.
16 year olds saying they are SSA or Bi-attracted are 25 times more likely to say they are opposite sex attracted at the age of 17 than those with a heterosexual orientation are likely to identify themselves as bi-sexual or homosexual.
16-year olds who claim they are opposite sex attracted will overwhelmingly remain that way.*

Yes, sexuality is fluid for some, but not for others, and is bidirectional. Kinsey reported on this in the 1940’s. But the sexual orientation is there initially, and the jury is still out regarding what factors cause SSA, which may very well vary between people. That is why the Church, in her wisdom, does not consider the orientation sinful, only the behavior.

With all due respect Kinsey is no longer considered a valid source for anything to do with sexuality, other than his own perversities.

While the Catholic Church rightly does not claim temptation is a sin, it still recognizes homosexual desires as a disorder.
