I’m new to these forums, but the thing that led me to discover them was a result of Tim Cook’s offensive public announcement. It was welcomed by some, dismissed as “meh” by some and offensive to some, including myself. This isn’t a computer forum, but I switched from Microsoft to Mac after being the “IT guy” for my children’s computers before they went to college. I somewhat dreaded the thought of needing to spend time on the phone with them when they were away from home at college and had troubles with their computers, so I decided to try and see if the at-the-time Apple ads that their computers “just work” would be a good solution and bought an iBook for my first daughter who went to college. She never needed any help and it did indeed “just work,” so I did likewise for my next daughter who went to college. 7 years has passed and that second daughter is still using her same iBook without ever having any problems. I switched from PC to Mac a few years ago and was enamored with Apple until Tim Cook left me feeling betrayed with his announcement. I have to remind myself that he didn’t touch my Mac hardware and didn’t really have anything at all to do with designing them, like his predecessor Steve Jobs did.
But I felt betrayed and offended at the chief spokesperson for Apple computer publicly advocating and declaring pride in what is a perversion.
I said so, succinctly, in a comment to an article on Apple Computer Company on the website
seekingalpha.com and they pulled my comment down. I made two comments, one wondering whether people of faith in various religions around the world would feel any aversion to Apple products because of his announcement and the other expressing briefly that I, as a shareholder in Apple, was offended that the CEO had made such a statement while he is the chief spokesperson for Apple.
Both comments were immediately pulled down, with the following explanation:
“We wanted to let you know that we’ve deleted the post copied at the end of this email and explain why. It was deleted because it contains stereotyping, prejudiced or racist language about individuals or the topic under discussion. We encourage you to avoid such language and remind you that the posting of racist, ethnic and similar slurs is grounds for being banned from Seeking Alpha.”
So … because I am offended (more to the point, I am repulsed) by homosexuality, I was censored and declared to be someone who is a racist, prejudiced and/or a person who “stereotypes” people.
That rejection by that website led me to search the web for what others were discussing about Tim Cook and one of the top results was this forum.
So … congratulations, to members of this forum who are concerned enough to reason about this subject. And thank you, forum moderators, for not labeling someone who discusses the topic as a racist etcetera.
There are many rational and logical comments made by people in this forum who are obviously sincerely concerned about issues of good versus evil and THAT is another reason which led me to join this forum.
Tim Cook is PROUD to be “gay”. Pride, of the variety found in Satan and for which Satan was cast out of Heaven, is a sin. But … Tim Cook did not elaborate on what he means by “gay”. If it merely means that he is not inclined to be married (to a woman), that is no sin and the New Testament specifically addresses that as just the way some people are. If he also means that his best human friend is a man but they do not behave intimately with each other as a man with a woman, then that likewise is not a sin. Jonathan and David were best friends and were not sinning in being friends. But if Tim Cook means, by “gay,” that he, as is commonly assumed in association with being “gay,” engages in sodomy … then yes that is a sin of the variety for which the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. It is not only a sin, but it is “confusion.”
Be careful with “pride” because, though the English language is sloppy with its multiple definitions for words, there is a kind of pride which is to be avoided at all costs. It is not only the kind which was found in Satan, but it is also the same kind which, according to Proverbs, precedes a fall. Humility, in contrast, (again, according to Proverbs) precedes honor. It would be better for Tim Cook to be humble and apologize than to be proud and force his viewpoint on everybody.
