Which begs the question: Is shame something no one should feel, ever? Or are there some reasons why it is legitimate to feel shame, and what are those? Why would “being gay” not qualify as a legitimate reason?Perhaps Mr. Cook felt a need to say that he was proud to be gay because so many people say that being gay is something of which to be ashamed.
These are not rhetorical questions, by the way.
