…I can’t believe she can write that and think it sounds at all intelligent. Same for the rest of her article.
Why are you still amazed by her ignorance??? Well, I guess it’s because she constantly finds new ways to display it.

Reminds me of Barbara Boxer saying “A baby is born when it’s born.”

Loved your comment. And yes, you got it right.

Fornication is not Gods will.recreational sex is not gods will so why would the pregnacy be gods will, when it could be prevented by contraception?
Wow! So in other liberal words we are not to be held responsible for our sins and a consequential killing of life through abortifacients is meaningless.

:hypno:

Just got this tidbit from the Courageous Priest (Fr. Michael Rodriquez):

Emphasis mine:
On January 20, 2012, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that nearly all employers, including the Roman Catholic Church, will soon be forced to cover the cost of contraceptives, sterilization, and abortifacient drugs in their health insurance plans. **Fortunately, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has spoken out against this brazen and blasphemous assault on the holy law of God, the sanctity of life, and the good of souls. Unfortunately, their response has thus far been spiritually feeble and morally anemic, i.e. it has revolved largely around the protection of religious liberty, freedom of conscience, and First Amendment rights, while remaining devoid of explicit reference to the absolute moral truths revealed by God and entrusted to the Holy Catholic Church. **
Lex orandi, lex credendi: the Church believes as she prays. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1124) **If the majority of Catholics no longer believe as the Church believes, e.g. that abortion, contraception, and homosexual activity are intrinsically evil and thus forbidden, this is necessarily a consequence of Catholics no longer worshipping God as the Church has always worshipped God. **
A very serious consideration.

With Sunday Mass attendance so low – something like less than 20% of Catholics at Sunday Mass – one has to wonder whether the vast majority of self-identified Catholics are anything close to a true Catholic identity.

My fear is that many self-identified Catholics may not really feel that there is any true benefit of a Catholic hospital versus a general hospital. Would most Catholics who had to have their appendix removed care whether they were taken to a Catholic or general hospital?

Of course, our Catholic identity is at an all-time low mostly and precisely because Catholic teaching from the Sunday pulpit rarely, if ever, speaks to the grave matter of contraception, sterilization and abortion — at least, that’s the case in my weekly Sunday homilies and prayer petitions. Catholics are not strongly grounded in their faith because Catholic sermons generally have no gravity.

Uhm, preaching to the 22% who attend Mass every Sunday isn’t the issue. Yes, it should be mentioned more frequently, but I bet most of the people in the pew know the Church’s position. It’s the other 80% who identify as Catholic but don’t believe what the Church teaches that are the problem. How do we evangelize* them*?

It seems far-fetched, from my perspective, to think that God should have any opinion at all about contraceptive technology, let alone about which corporate entity should pay for it. Yet that is the argument the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops made last week. God doesn’t like birth control, they said. To force Catholic organizations to pay for birth control goes against God and so against the consciences of right-minded Catholics who believe in God.

We can hardly evangelize ‘them’ now because we have a bad track record in evangelizing ‘them’, who were ‘us’, in the past. And that track record continues, until some legal issue brings our religious freedom under fire. If you don’t have a track record of speaking out against things like contraception and cohabitation in unequivocal terms in your local parishes and among your parishioners, then the perception/reality of your moral convictions must therefore be equivocal or questionable. How many Catholics today marry in the Catholic Church having openly lived with their intended before marriage? Is this the exception or the norm?

USCCB President Timothy Cardinal Dolan has issued a new letter to his fellow Catholic bishops that is one of the strongest condemnations yet of the revised Obama mandate that pro-life advocates have blasted for trampling on religious freedoms.

We are so blessed by the presence and the force of Cardinal Dolan! He is the perfect representative of our Church in this matter as he does not let the media lead him down the path to debating contraception, women’s health or other extraneous matters. We need to quit worrying about poorly catechized Catholics who don’t know about the Church’s position on various matters and focus on the real issue; the loss of our precious religious liberty. Cardinal Dolan makes a brilliant point that our rights do not come from the government—despite the Dem’s position to the contrary! Any American can get behind repealing this mandate…on our way to repealing Obamacare entirely. This may be a blessing in disguise as the digust with Obamacare itself has faded and many provisions coming into effect AFTER the election. This puts it back on the front burner and I hope Obama and Sebelius are finding it the hot seat!

Exactly and I think that’s one point Fr. Rodriquez was making. The bishops have been so politically minded over the past few decades, we’ve not heard much along the lines of absolute truth. He reminds us that Pope Leo said "“The supreme end to which human liberty must aspire is God.” And then there is this:
Pope John Paul II laments that certain currents of modern thought have gone so far as to exalt freedom to such an extent that it becomes an absolute. In terms of metaphysics, placing freedom “above” truth is a calamitous error. Morally speaking, freedom and “individual rights” may never be divorced from the truth. No one can claim a “right” to espouse moral error or a false religion.
(Veritas Splendor, #32)
How foreign this must sound to some modern Catholic ears not familiar with the truth we used to hear just by attending Mass on Sunday!

lifesitenews.com/news/federal-court-forcing-pharmacists-to-distribute-abortion-pill-unconstitutio

The decision overturns Washington Board of Pharmacy rules approved in 2007 by pro-abortion governor Christine Gregoire, which lacked the exemption.

Gregoire also calls herself a Catholic. What is with these woman who call themselves Catholic and act as though they are anything but! Actions speak louder then words.
What is it about the Left Coast Catholics? Our former governor supposedly a Catholic was honored at a NARAL event and totally a proabort. Then of course Nancy Pelosi as an example of someone who’s gone off the reservation.

I wish the Bishops would speak out more frequently on the politicians who are so PUBLIC with their anti-Catholic views

I am delighted though that the judge found a right of conscious in this case.

:Unfortunately, it is not limited to the left coast. Ted Kennedy, Sebelius, etc. are not from there to be sure. I know what you mean though, particularly in Kali… err California. 😉

A higher-brow version of the theocracy-is-just-around-the-corner argument:
Santorum, who makes Mitt Romney look blandly secular by comparison, has a well-known animus against accepted sexual practices that he believes defy “God’s law” — his words, not mine. He opposes sex for reasons other than producing babies, sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, prenatal testing, and on and on. Contraception, he has said, gives people “a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”
Most Americans won’t begrudge him his beliefs; he’s free to practice them, and imbue his children with them, as he did by home-schooling his family. But most Americans also will part ways with him when he advocates that civil code should adhere to his religious beliefs.

The irony is that Santorum and other people of faith have made it clear that UNLIKE THE DEMOCRATS they do not believe in legislating their beliefs…can we say squggly lightbulbs? HHS Mandates? Obamacare? Green energy?

I have yet to see a smidgen of evidence that Santorum (whom I do not support btw) has EVER suggested legislating we all go to Mass once a week or believe in the True Presence or require everyone to kneel before the Blessed Sacrament. OTOH Leftists are constantly trying to interfere in the most intimate of our personal decisions and cannot see the hypocrisy of their actions.

As CS Lewis said, there is nothing worse than a moral busybody.
