Are formfitting shirts appropriate?

In the seventies, there was a real cute style to wear a tube top, with a blouse over it with the shirt tails tied.

In my case, no…seeing a middle-aged man with a beer gut and chest hair wouldn’t look good with a tube top. At all.

Good, that means I can wear them until I’m middle-aged.
 
There’s nothing wrong with wearing clothes that fit you properly. Even if women and men wore potato sacks people would still have issues with lust. A young woman or a man could wear a t shirt that fits them and it’ll show off their body. If their body is physically fit then they’ll be considered attractive and someone will be mad that they’re listing after them. Maybe exercise custody of the eyes
 
By which I assume you also mean older gentlemen whose guts are straining their shirt buttons. That’s as troubling a sight as young guys showing off their builds.
 
I try not to get into these modesty discussions, because in faithful Catholic circles, they generate a lot of heat but very little light. Personally I think Hasidic Jewish fashion choices — what they call tznius (“snoo-ss”) — can be very attractive for women. Tube tops, if worn all by themselves, I don’t think so.

I allow my son to wear shorts to Mass, at least when attending the OF, and, if he wishes, a T-shirt with a tasteful logo on it (e.g., Star Wars or NASA) — he likes logo shirts. This might not be as dressy as some would prefer, but I say, if the pastor and congregation are OK with young women wearing Apple Bottoms jeans so tight that if she had a quarter in her hip pocket, you could see not only the date but the mint mark on it, then I think they can handle the average 12-year-old.

I usually wear a polo shirt and long casual trousers. I do not wear shorts to Mass, however, I did when I was in the Caribbean (last-minute decision to go to weekday Mass and I didn’t have trousers). Nothing is form-fitting. I don’t do form-fitting. Older fathers with dad bods shy away from form-fitting.

Yes, well… Young girls is another thing. I just happened to be walking toward checkout and a young lady with low cut jeans appeared in front of me. She was pulling them up constantly. She had a ready solution - using her waist. Had she gotten jeans that went up to her waist, then no problem.
 
I think it might be ok with only girlfriends or at the pool or beach
 
Men, in particular, are very visually stimulated. Ever walk past a construction site, for but one example? Even priests are not immune. Some have asked for cleavage to be covered. While the intent may not be to stimulate or entice, one does not also want to become a near occasion of sin for those around them.

God appreciates your beauty and natural form, as does your spouse if married. Others may potentially be violating your human dignity by viewing you as an object.
