Q. Do Protestants do their own thing?
A. Yes, that’s why they keep morphing into new denominations and “non-denominational” groups. That’s why there can be significant differences across the various congregations within a single denomination. Yes, that’s why Protestant “orders of service” and preaching themes tend to drift over time. Like clothing, styles of preaching and doctrine tend to change like fashions and trends. For the most part, there is church calendar and no lectionary to guide the Scripture reading. So, every minister “does their own thing” and picks their own Scripture texts every week. Liturgical and musical and preaching styles also change with the times. Will they be observing Palm Sunday today? It depends.

Your comment assumes that Protestant is one single monolithic group that “morphed” Over time. That is a false assumption.

I’ve heard it described as Islam for white people
“Islam for white people” — that is priceless! Pretty well nails it!

I hope everyone will be able to see that this is just a humorous quip. Arabs, Turks, Albanians, and others are indeed “white people”, yet by and large they are Islamic.

And he’s not eating it, either.

I have more trouble with that thing…

A former Mormon told me about special undergarments that certain Mormons wear that are supposed to protect the wearer – both men and women alike. I heard these are for those special members who are allowed access to the LDS temple in Salt Lake City, which is presumably reserved for the most devout LDS members.

I found a Wikipedia article on this. If my ex-Mormon friend hadn’t told me about this, I wouldn’t have been aware of it because I don’t think it is widely known outside of Mormon circles. Here is the article:

They should, I think. After all, Lutherans have these two:

Joseph Smith never claimed that Jesus failed.
If the church falls into apostasy, Jesus failed. According to JS, this happened not once, but twice.

The Church is indefectable and has been for 2,000 years because the Holy Spirit has protected the Catholic Church. The gates of helll will not prevail against it.

Today the Mormonite president officially added new scripture to the church canon regarding the restoration of Jesus Christ’s true church.

Not exactly. There are 168 temples in the world where VIP members can show their temple recommend and gain entrance to engage in the Masonic style worship. The Salt Lake City temple is not special with the exception that that’s where the top dogs hang out and I believe the Mormonite president has a special office there. But that gets above my pay grade in the world of Mormonism knowledge.

It is irrefutable that Joseph and Hyrum were Masons. So was Brigham Young. Do you honestly believe that Joseph would care about Phelps’s feelings toward Masonry?

The sun and moonstones found on temples originate in Masonry. BY was not innovative with the beehive. The beehive was on the Masonic apron given to George Washington and had been a symbol in Masonry.

Seen in the third image are the Masonic square and compass that are on the left and right pectoral respectively.

There is an even newer design. The marks are no longer sewed into the garments. They are now silk screened onto them.

Didn’t know that. Interesting. Do you have a link to where I can read up on this?

Maybe I shouldn’t have said that. My cousin who is Mormon told me that and I took his word. I’ve never verified it to be honest.

I did see this
Do the care label instructions imply that the garments are only washed once a week? That’s kind of gross. And any article of clothing should be able to withstand far more than 50 washings.

Seems to me you’d want to have several sets of garments and change them every day.

My cousin talked me into watching the general conference today because their leader six months ago said this one was going to be like none before. I was expecting to hear juicy stuff and was very disappointed that it was nothing more than the usual boring talks and a lot of Joe Smith worship.

He translated the Mormon bible by looking through a seer stone into a hat at gold plates that no one were ever to see. Later he came up with 11 witnesses who now claimed to of seen the plates I guess the holy 12. He also made himself the new messiah savior of the world overtaking Jesus and casting him aside. God also lives on a planet called Kolob and has a wife and family - does that sound like the Christian faith to you? Also the Prophet of the Mormon Church speaks to God on a daily basis and God answers back according to the church.

If Protestants want to align themselves as brothers of the Mormon church what can we do?

Shouldn’t we all be speaking to God on a daily basis and having God answer us back?!?!
