Are there any Catholic theologions that fully understand the last book of the bible ?

Hi Walt…from what I have discerned from some of your posts anyway, your code is largely connected with numbers.

When I first read Father Michael’s book on Revelations titled “Apocolypse” and some 10 years ago I think, the full code the early Christions used during the Roman persecutions was still being deciphered…perhaps 10 years later it is fully deciphered or decoded, which is what I meant by:

However according to Fr. M. Fallon MSC (Scripture Scholar) and also other books on Revelations I have read, the code I refer to in Revelations is largely connected with the Book of Daniel in the Old Testament and Daniels visions detailed therein. It has nothing to do with numbers but mainly images that are picked up from the Book of Daniel and the visions and hence the various beasts, images etc. in the Book of Revelations.
However to the Hebrews certain numbers did have meanings. I understand that 7 for example was representative of God, 70 times 7 of infinity and various other numbers that were meaningful and symbolic. For instance the Isrealites wandered 40 years in the desert after the escape from Egypt; Jesus spends 40 days in the desert before being baptised by John, his cousin in the desert. Proabably 40 too was symbolic in the Bible.

While numbers and their meanings do come into Revelations and Father MIchael explains these numbers and the meanings…it is mostly images rather than numbers and images that were meaningful to the Christians since they were familiar with the Book of Daniel.

I do not understand numerology at all…are the numbers that you find meaningful actually some form of numerology per se?

PS Do you suffer Bipolar by any chance and I am not being offensive as I suffer Bipolar and the second of the two major mental illnesses. Bipolar is often marked by high intelligence and also high creativity. Abraham Lincoln and also Winston Churchill to mention only two famous people of great social contribution suffered Bipolar. Good company to be in?😉
 
Well! I have quite a library here more or less, and I had a vague sort of feeling that I had repurchased Father Michael’s work *Apocolayse. *Seems I did and I now have it in my hands. The first edition came out in 1992.

I am now quoting from it:
“Revelations is a highly imaginative work. It can be very confusing to the reader who attempts to find a way through it without a guide. It is easy to get lost in the maze of symbols that seem to come in from all directions and intersect each other with no apparent pattern.
This is obvious from the way the book as been interpreted, be, its proponents seem to be able to find it somewhere in the book of Revelations. People who oppose them are accuse of being “the beast of the Apolcalypse”…the uninformed reader readily falls victim to such propoganda… in the symbolic framework of the Apocalypse, numbers have A QUALITATIVE AND NOT A QUANTITATIVE FUNCTION…prophecies of warning (curses) were primarily faith statements, for the reminded the listener of who God is Just…”

I, in fact, suffer from mental illness: originally diagnosed schizo, then depression, now OCD. Interestingly enough, I am extraordinarily intelligent. Was Co-Valedictorian of college Math Program at University of 50,000 students. My mom is bipolar, and yes, she is very intelligent and creative. So I know what it’s like. My illness causes me to overobsess about religion. I used to be computer programmer, now I work at fast food, lost marriage. Yes, mental illness is tough.😦

I feel your pain. However, i dont know what it must be like other then the fact, that i have been on the edge on insanity, almost lost to the world, i suffer from deppresion. I never go to the doctor, keep telling my self that there is nothing wrong with me and that im just being weak, but it has made me leave many jobs. I find it very difficult to interact with people and i have very few freinds.
I am very emotional, and im always unhappy even when i try really hard to be happy, its like my face is stuck. I hate being in rooms with lots of people, i start sweating and panicking.

In terms of specail abilitys, i have not much, if any.

If i love doing something i pick it up very easley like composing music, but i dont think i got what you have? im certainly not intelligent in the sense of education! and i hated maths! :D.

I dont want to go to any odinary concil, i need a good Catholic councilor, I think i might have found one through a link on this forum, but i havent checked it out yet.
