Hohummm. Watch Joel Osteen and see why he puts 15,000 a week into his pews. Literal bread and wine aside, he is putting the “bread” on the “table of the soul” for thousand and thousands a week. Jesus said to his apostles 'Feed my Sheep". That means spiritually as well

Amen! i saw one response somewhere on this website that said Billy Graham was the anti-christ. I am attending RCIA now but wonder how many catholics think everyone else is going to hell, because they do not believe in transubstation, or whatever the term is from 2000 years old. Let me tell everyone where there is actual bread and wine - in the Word of God. read, pray and mediate on it. For Christians who don’t believe or partake in the eucharist, I don’t think I would consider them “insane”Code:I think that it's pretty standard to believe anyone who calls on the name of Jesus fits in the realm of "Christian." And anyone who has ever had a valid baptism (done in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) is considered a Christian in the state of grace (at least at the time of their baptism).
I think if Christians UNDERSTOOD what the eucharist was and STILL didn’t care…then that would be insane. But the problem is, you cant’ force somebody to believe that it’s Jesus. You can’t “push them over that intellectual cliff” so to speak, in regards to this very difficult teaching. Even many of Christ’s disciples LEFT him, because they said it was a difficult teaching, and they had Christ HIMSELF explaining it! How can we expect our brothers and sisters in Christ to believe this teaching, when all they have are catholics whom they have been taught their WHOLE LIVES are 'wrong" explaining it?
Are they Christians? ABSOLUTELY!

But I have an intense ache in my heart that so many of my brothers and sisters in Christ simply do not know Him, present in the mass
First, do not confuse pulling a crowd with being correct about anything. History has shown, and will show again, that being very wrong can attract more followers and more devoted ones than preaching the Truth. Second, check to see if he is preaching the Truth or is he preaching the health and wealth lie. If it is the former, great. IF it is the latter, that is very, very problematic.

He is nothing but a motivational speaker. He does not put “bread” on the table. Why does he attract the crowds? Because people today are looking for a feel good watered down message–and Joel provides that.

There is more than one way to feed a sheep. Let us pray that the sheep are fed in ALL ways that the Bible tells us.

NO. Not at all. Jesus never said as much. Now, if we believe in Jesus, we are to keep his commandments. That includes accepting the Real Presence in the Eucharist. However, Jesus did not say that we must receive to get to heaven. he did say that we must be baptised. And he said that those who do not eat his Flesh will not have eternal life WITHIN them.

It is not anyone’s place to judge who “does” or “does not” go to heaven.
As long as you have the depth and breadth of your faith, he is very inspirational. Throw out the “wealth” part of it, I agree. But to be happy in Christ - why not? Buuuttt - the depth of his ministry and his message - I am not sure about - what will happen when the bad times roll - remember the parable of the seeds. I find taht listening to him is very encouraging. I agree that those not schooled in the hard knocks message of christ also are missing the essence of His word.
And that is the danger of his message. When the stuff hits the fan, do the people feel like God has abandoned them? Do they feel like they are no longer loved? Or that God doesn’t hear them?

Really? Re-read John 3:5, MAtt 28:19, and any of the conversion stories in Acts, including that of Paul. It is clear that you must be baptised.
John was under the old law, not the new. There is no issue with him. However, if for some reason a baptism is impossible, the person is still saved by the mercy of God.
Again, see above. If baptism is not possible, then there is no issue. However, it does not take much water, and anyone can baptise if they use the correct form and have the correct intention.What then - it is a desert and no water? Are you to say that if that soldier says those words, that the spirit of christ will not come down upon him like a dove?
I do not know what his demographics are but he is pulling in the unchurched…The Holy Eucharist as described by the catholic church is a beautiful thing - the faith should try and capitalize upon the spirit of these new believers.Is that meant to be an argument for Joel Osteen, or against him?
If only 0.001% of RCs attend mass each week, that’s about 110,000 Catholic butts in pews. (And anyways I believe the correct figure would be a little higher than 0.001%.
No argument there really asking a sincere question - baptism is a sacrament not a commandment. You are saying we must keep his sacraments, right?
